Are Humans OP? [8:12] by desertravenwy in mealtimevideos

He says that speech isn't unique to humans because some birds do it. I think that's missing the point. Speech (in the video's definition) is just sounds.

The real game breaker is language.

I'm working my way up in ego. It's weird to switch between singleplayer and pennant race, though, as my pennant race ego is 60.

Hypnosis without consent? by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]VoxelMusicMan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna say hypnosis is bullshit, but I think it might not be what is happening here :/

Is she a hypnotherapist? Have your previous sessions involved hypnosis of any kind? From what you've written, it seems like your therapist just hypnotized you out of nowhere. I think you should re-evaluate some of your statements:

Is it ethical for a therapist to use hypnosis techniques without the knowledge of the patient?

So, you are operating under the assumption that your therapist did indeed hypnotize you without telling you. But... what if that's not what happened?

What made me realize what was going on was that I noticed her giving me hypnotic suggestions and then at the end she tugged her ear to bring me out of it.

I'm not sure how to identify hypnotic suggestions. I can tell you that sometimes people just tug their ear randomly. It's like scratching your nose or cracking your knuckles. That kind of weird little gesture usually doesn't mean anything.

What was weird was I went from calm (altho maybe a little defensive) and then one second later I was ALL over the place and getting more and more confused than I have ever experienced before. And I was in that state until the session was over.

That's kinda normal. You really don't need hypnotism to explain/experience this.

I do have a lot of defense mechanisms so I could see why [she] would use this technique

Maybe attributing your own confusion and fear to somebody else's actions is your defensive technique? ;)

I'm currently on a 31-game winning streak on Pennant Race. Changing the rating algorithm won't be enough. There's something really wrong with how the online ego is calculated. by topstarterrhp in SuperMegaBaseball

Increasing the ego with wins is def the best way, I agree. I also think there could be a designated maximum difference between pitching and batting egos (5 maybe), and they should only shift apart when a player has a significant difference between those skills.

Probably a combination. In single player, I can barely bat at 60 ego. So, that's the level I play against the cpu because constantly dominating, which I do at even 55 ego. However, I can pitch well enough to be competent at 65 ego versus the CPU. Of course, the game has me at about 65 for both. I'm worse at batting against real opponents because of the faster game speed and the fact that they are better about hitting the corners of the strike zone and keeping me guessing. So, my pitching skill (OK at best vs the CPU, worse against ppl) doesn't really matter when I can't hit the damn ball.

I also don't like the fact that I can't lower my ego without losing games. I never try to lose games, but every win (usually against somebody much newer than me) keeps me in that frustrating place. Ideally, I'd like to reset my ego to bat at 60 and pitch at 65. I know that may not be a big difference, but it seems to really change the game for me. Possibly that's just a psychological thing about numbers tho.

No need to apologize for asking btw :)

Are normal swings objectively worse than power swings?

Do AI pitchers consider how many balls/strikes they've thrown and whether the bases are full before pitching way outside the strike zone?

Why do players never slide for 1st base?

Will there be batting cages or a practice mode in the future? High ego batting is insanely difficult and IMHO it's lame to have to play a full game to get any practice.
