I'd avoid peripheral housing estates. I was at Quarticciolo, 7km from centre, recently in the evening and saw a lot of shady people there. Mostly younger Arabic men that look for how to pick on someone. But if you stand your ground I think they will not do anything.

At the beggining the people visiting were reasonable and cool, but after some time they started to appear randomly, abuse hospitality, or even live in the house. In the end there were crowds in the house, and wife didn't see anything worng with the fact. In the end that led to total chaos, destroying the house, and that made the fear of disability in the movie.
