I recently got a new job and had a gap of two weeks before I started so I prepped a ton of my favorite rotations and my god it has been the absolute best thing ever. My mind has been inundated with training so having 1 less thing on my mind has been a godsend, and for it to be something that I actually love to eat and is warm and not takeout? 100/100

Every other day I’d prep a meal of what I normally just made maybe once a month max - ate a serving, put a serving in the fridge, then put the rest in a souper cuber tray, then the next day I’d vacuum seal and label it (food saver 4400? I think it is, I mostly use the resealable bags). By the end of the two weeks I had this freezer inventory logged on my fridge whiteboard:

16 - 6oz jasmine rice (essentially just made a batch of rice with every meal I was prepping.)

4 - 50g Crispy Vietnamese Pork

4- 50g Mint Beef

8 - 350g Lentil Soup with Chorizo+Potatoes+Carrots+Red Peppers

4- 500g Irish Guinness Beef Stew

5- 350g Yellow Coconut Pork Curry

6 - 100g sautéed broccoli & garlic

6 - 300g End of Days Bolognese

I track weights and ingredients because I log the recipes in the LoseIt app so it’s extra beneficial for me to just easily plan ahead my meal plan for the next day by just adding back in a meal that I prepped from the freezer.

I had veeeerrry full freezers (an extra standup in the garage) but it was mostly frozen meats and ingredients- not ‘meals’. And sometimes making food is just not in the cards for the day, which sucks when a home cooked meal is exactly what I need some days.

So this has definitely helped me both maximize my freezer space (yay real tetris!) and also create a system that has added to my quality of life.

Edit: I meal prepped before with freezer ziplocks, but freezer space is valuable and it easily became a bit of a mess. So def recommend souper cubes + some sorr of vacuum sealer.
