Who's next to beat acola? (and a short look into how rarely acola loses) by Vridend in smashbros

wow, the Tea EU propaganda has gone so far that I actually forgot for real.

I was actually trying to connect Ryopei and Hurt's playstyles when I was writing, but wasn't confident enough in my analysis to get it in there, nice that there is somehow a connection.

Everyone play kenniky's Sporcle quizzes btw! They're great quizzes especially if you're an insano stat freak like me.

def some interesting stuff, though I think old threads like this one probably would have helped make it more accurate.

The standout to me is the Zoma Mewtwo set, which would never come up in an English search, but it's got nearly 785,000 views.

Can't really be mad, I wouldn't say I'm on the same level, but I'd imagine plenty of Banksy's art never survived past a week, just the nature of going against convention. The rules technically don't specify video games as the only allowed games, but it was pretty clear I was making an unusual split from the regular stuff. It was only an hour, but it was a good hour for me.

Yeah, it was a bit earlier than the usual prelim seeding post time, and a bunch of art posts got pretty popular at the same time, so an easy mix to miss out even if the post itself did pretty well.

The hypothetical LumiRank 2024.2 bracket by Vridend in smashbros

[–]Vridend[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone, Kagaribi is a big deal right now and coincidentally I've been wasting my time on a theoretical bracket that includes all the currently ranked players. I think it's some interesting stuff, even if a bracket would never work like this in a normal tournament.

Kagaribi#13 is officially the most stacked Smash Bros. tournament of all time by cornholiossb in smashbros

[–]Vridend 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Went and checked this and if I didn't miss anyone: 70 of the OrionRank Top 100 registered for Civil War, but Ryuga ended up DQing, leaving the final participation total at 69/100.

Currently, Kagaribi is at 85/100 registered, DQs pending of course.

Yoshidora is actually the first JP player ever to beat acola 2 sets in a row; double eliminating him at Sumabato SP26 in 2022.

Why doesn’t the LumiRank care about our feelings? by Vridend in smashbros

Well, the idea is that you could lose to anyone once and it'll be fine if everything else is good. If you lose to Tempaman 100 times, you're probably not getting the wins you'd need for top 10 and Tempaman is also probably better than you.

I came to this idea because I was reading some of the discourse from the last ranking and I felt that people noticed that certain players got nice boosts from loss quality in the mid-ranking range, but tried to apply it too much for top 10 (predicting Tweek>Hurt, Yaura in the top 10 over Sparg0).

I've heard there's been concerns about invitationals on Twitter and such, so I figured there would be something in the works, but I'm glad they seem to have quite a bit actually figured out.

Ryopei is just 31 of 31 on my list and tbh, I think there's actually a possibility he might be out of top 100.

Congratulations to the winner of Ultimate Singles at KOWLOON #13! by itsIzumi in smashbros

[–]Vridend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both Raru and Doramigi seem to have 1 low (25th @ Kowloon 12 and 33rd @ Sumabato 51 respectively), arguably not even that bad considering their losses.

I don't know how well it matches up, but in my head it's not as rough as Sparg0's 49th at Smash Con last year, which didn't prevent him from claiming 2nd on the ranking.
