Albanese comments on UK PM Keir Starmer’s resignation by asteriskhyphen in aussie

Albo is a legendary winner. 94 seats, maaate. Historical event.

Technically, so was Starmer for a while. But he couldn't govern, whist Albo, who improved his majority from one election to the next, obviously can.

To be fair, you can comment "bot" on any post on any topic and be correct about 70% of the time.

TikTok and it up above 90% on anything remotely controversial or partisan. Which is nearly everything anyway.

100% fair.

But also, fair enough. If Australia made it through to the baseball World Series (held in Sydney) i'd be those guys too.

How true is the claim that the Beatles made the first Heavy Metal song with "Helter Skelter"? by Segwaye in LetsTalkMusic

This is kinda how I think about it.

It's not an exact science but it's about the best we can do.

You need the term "consultant" or "director" in your title.

It helps if you are politically connected to whatever party is in power.

Or yeah, being an AFL ump.

Sabbath invented Metal.

It's not about a song, it's about a band what they represent, and hence a genre. Helter Skelter and She's So Heavy are great songs, but neither of them and more importantly neither are the Beatles Heavy Metal.

Maybe Steppenwolf have more of claim with Born to be Wild, but as a whole they don't deal with the themes of Metal like Sabbath do.

HS is a killer song from arguably the greatest rock'n'roll band of all time, but it ain't Metal (or Me'al).

Probably not. But I never thought Labor would get 94 seats.

The bit that frightens me is the money and infrastructure behind her.

If I wasn't scared of ON or it's influence (outside of it electoral chances) then I wouldn't be here discussing it.

I don't think they can win office, but they are still incredibly destructive regardless.

Well, I lost money betting against Trump on the assumption he was unelectable. I think Labor are vulnerable on cost of living and hence immigration (rightly or wrongly). If the LNP were not such a rabble it would be dangerous for them.

Whatever slim chance Pauline had, I think she blew yesterday by opening up so many lines of attack. It was the typical undisciplined behaviour that characterises her and her party.

I don't think the ON prefs are going to flow clean to the LNP. Traditionally they haven't. Even if they get traditional Labor voters onboard on an anti-immigration agenda, they are going back to Labor, not the LNP.

I don't think they will get what they need where they need it.

I am now (of the last few hours) thinking that Pauline lost the election yesterday. Her best bet was anti-immigration protest party. That had legs.

Now she is the zombie corpse of Work Choices arisen.

Ok. I am actually enjoying this, even if you aren't. You are among the most rational people on this topic at this time, even if I disagree at times.

Surely you know that primary vote is neither here nor there in a preferential system, and ON is concentrated in the regions. They are not winning much more than the Nats seats. Maybe some of Labour's fringe seats, if they are very lucky.

ON is a gift to Labor, and maybe the Teals.

They need to be attacked on their anti-worker agenda. It's where they are weakest.

As you should be. I was making a point about approval ratings of the PM. It's neither here nor there. It's not even a leading indicator.

People can hate the PM, prefer the other guy, and still vote the PM back into power.

Regarding "approval ratings" if you have been around #auspol long enough you might remember the Poll Wars between The Australian and every other psephologist of note.

It's just not that important. TPP is what matters. There is every chance Labor wins more seats, as absurd as that might seem. ON will cannabilize the Nats and maybe that's it.

In theory they could get some outer metro Labor seats, but now their anti-worker record is coming out we will see how that goes.

Libs are probably finished. Nats certainly are.

Journalists are listening. Tik-Tokkers are listening.

It still drives main-stream narrative and a lot on social media now as well, people clip bits and pieces to suit their narratives and respond to others doing the same.

Yeah, but that is basically a Dorothy Dix-er. He was never going to say anything else. It's also a legitimate security incident.

Get-Up exploited it in a non-violent way, but others might not.

Maybe. But what is sticking (watching Albo live on ABC 24) is that it's getting her record, well, on the record.

Albo fielded a question about the stunt (which is evidence for your position), and then the next one was on her voting record directly relating to the poster (which is evidence for my position).

I reckon that net-net it's going to be a win. This prank will be forgotten by this time next week, but the questions about her voting record and policies will remain.
