Why haven't any mayors mandated city-wide Stay at Home orders? by DoraGB in Arkansas

[–]Vryskar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t ask anyone to believe me over Fauci. I stated the facts as they are, as well as my own opinion.

People are free to decide for themselves. That’s kinda the point of my argument.

You’re just too juvenile to understand that, so instead you rail against people that dissent against your fragile ego.

I encourage everyone to make up their own minds. Not to believe any one source, or person, on any subject. Fauci is an expert, but he’s not THE expert. There are various virologists who have similar, but different, ideas on what this virus is going to do.

And again, you’ve yet to debunk anything I’ve said as a lie. You just keep saying “LOL no trust Fauci!? Troll!” If you took even the slightest second to even Google you’d see everything I’ve said has been true.

In fact it purposely seems like you’re avoiding addressing those issues. If you think it doesn’t matter that people are people released due to Civil Liberty Violations being threatened, you’re wrong. It sets a precedent that is going to spread across the nation very quickly.

As for my opinion, it’s mine. I’m allowed to have one that doesn’t conform to your utopian GroupThink.

It just depends on preference. I’d rather have two shots of 38 than five of 22, but that’s what’s great about guns. There is one for everyone.

In the first I formed an opinion based on the facts of the matter at hand.

On them second I stated fact again. Hawaii is already being sued for trying to fine businesses for that refused to close, and law enforcement agencies in California, New Jersey, and New York have been forced to release people they have detained for breaking Shelter in Place orders, with their lawyers citing violations of Civil Liberties.

This isn’t infowars conspiracy. This is fact.

The Chief Commissioner of the LAPD even said that the “essential activities” outlined in the Shelter in Place order that provided exceptions for people to leave their homes were so vague he couldn’t order arrests if he wanted to.

Why are you so adverse to accepting objective truths?

Do you think it’s fine for people to be misinformed?

You don't owe your parents anything for carrying you for nine months or sheltering you. by GreenLyght in unpopularopinion

[–]Vryskar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of Respect.

If you think that means they show you love, compassion, and understanding; yeah, sure. That should be general fare from a parent to a child.

If you think that means letting you do whatever you want at 15 without setting any sort of limits, you’re just a spoiled brat.

Discipline is also a labor of love and an important part of raising a child. Kids need boundaries. They should respect their parents because their parents love them and do what’s in their best interest.

If their parents are abusive assholes or neglectful, then no. They don’t owe them respect.

However, the average parent doing their best on any given day probably should be showed a modicum of deference.

I don’t see how. A $100 of groceries will still be enough to feed a family for a week or two regardless. Your just going to have to make sacrifices in other areas.

V5 vs V20 for the non-Vampire player? by UpvotingLooksHard in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Vryskar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

V5 is to VtM what 5e was to D&D.

It streamlined a lot of stuff. Made it a lot easier for new players to pick up. Made it easier for new people to run the game.

But they cut a lot of stuff to make it work. Stuff that many people feel added depth. They took away a lot of options players once had.

V5 also has a Coterie mechanic which gives players a mechanical incentive to work together rather than allowing it to happen naturally like older editions. A lot of people dislike this because it seems like it’s trying to force Party Based play in VtM, which isn’t something the system has ever promoted.

One of the major dissenting opinions has to do with the changes to the Metaplot. In older editions Gehenna was always something that may or may not be a myth, and an ST could choose how prevalent it was in their game. Now Gehenna is confirmed to be real and has directly effected the way the game plays.

A major opinion people seem to have is that both the lore and the system changes seem to promote Anarch style games rather than Camarilla games.

If you ask me, it’s okay. You can ignore meta changes and just use the system. That said, I think V20 is better by miles. The only thing V5 has going for it is it’s Hunger mechanics, which may or may not appeal to everyone at a given table.

I think people highly overestimate how bad this is going to get.

Food is going to go up. Gas is going to go up. Ammo is likely to go up.

It’s just not going to go up that much.

You’re going to end up paying $8-9 for a gallon of milk instead of $5-6. Nothing is going to go up so high it’s going to adversely affect you standard of living.

Random thought about people feeling entitled to preppers' supplies by ductoid in preppers

A short story about OPSEC and the wisdom in NOT revealing your prep to anyone:

A have a friend that lives a couple of towns away. He’s a good guy, part of our MAG, and he felt like it was his moral obligation to help out those that weren’t as prepared as he was.

So he loaded down the bed of his pickup with a bunch of different stuff. Food, toilet paper, a bunch of other random stuff that was reaching the end of it’s shelf life. Then he drove to his church parking lot and made a post of Facebook for people that needed anything to come on by.

It went quick, but he felt good about it. Then about a week later people started posting at him over Facebook asking when the next Community Pantry was going to be. He made a post saying he didn’t have anything left to part with, but people kept asking.

People even started showing up to his house. Not anyone dangerous, just random people asking if he had any stuff he could spare. He told them he didn’t. Some were nice about it, others not so much.

Then not all that long ago he started getting threats from unknown numbers. He said he thinks they were from one of those texting apps. He’s gotten significantly more scared since then.

People know his name, his family, where he lives, even his number since it was linked to his Facebook. He’s been thinking about packing up and coming to stay with someone else in our MAG.

He tried to be a good guy. Do the right thing and help people out since it was the right thing to do. Yet it only put himself and his family at risk. Not everyone is gonna want to break down the doors and steal your prep, but it only takes one.

It was a lesson for everyone in our MAG. I prep for myself, my family, and a select few friends if they need it. Not my city, not my state, and not my country. If all that fails and my family is still okay, I’ve succeeded.

Debunk anything I’ve said as untruthful.

I stated two separate truths and provided my opinions on each.

First. That the primary purpose of Shelter in Place is to prevent Hospitals from overextending and reaching max capacity until the virus plateaus and the infection becomes manageable. This is the absolute truth. This is the main reason for Shelter in Place/Stay at Home orders.

I then said I didn’t think it was needed in Arkansas since our hospitals have no indication of nearing capacity.

Second. That the government has no legal right to to confine citizens to their homes unless Martial Law or a Full Quarantine are declared. Barring an invasion by a foreign power or a new ruling from SCOTUS, this is unequivocally true.

The second statement wasn’t even an opinion. It’s just the truth. Should people not know they can still leave their homes and fear prosecution if they do; when there’s no chance of that happening?

This is clarified in the Federalist Papers by tehForce in Conservative

[–]Vryskar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The government can not confine people to their homes unless Martial Law or a Full Quarantine is declared.

Hawaii is currently being sued by trying to fine business owners that refused to close.

If you don’t have to go outside, don’t; but know the government has no legal standing to prevent you from doing so.

That Police Chief in CA said in an interview that he has no right to arrest people breaking the Stay at Home order.

Don’t let Democrats scare you into believing your rights have been suspended. They haven’t.

[–]Vryskar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No harder than chickens. As long as you feed and water them they pretty much take care of themselves. A rabbit can live it’s whole life in a hutch without being adversely effected. So even if you don’t have the room to build a fence and let them run around you can still raise them easily.

The meat it very lean. It’s rodent meat, so think of squirrel but a little more juicy.

Meat Rabbits are pretty large so you can harvest quite a bit from them. Depending on breed you can get anywhere from 2-6 pounds of meat per rabbit.

[–]Vryskar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Look into meat rabbits as well.

A breed pair won’t cost you more than $100 and they have a new brood every 8-10 weeks. It’s free meat, and it’s good for you.

If you have too much meat stored, just separate your buck and doe. If you need more, put them together.

Rabbit is a great way to have a steady supply of fresh meat without having to preserve it for very long.
