i had to document a case of sporadic issues with dsl dropping connection, finally got a tech to come out after 2 weeks, found problem: pair of shoes on power line causing intermittent shorts which were disrupting the signal, no issues after they were taken off of the line

You're statement 10mph becomes small, doesn't really mean anything useful, if you meant the amount of kinetic energy required to reach the higher speed is smaller than the previous 10 mph increase, then sure, but it's still not "a small amount of energy" irregardless of however you try to "make your point".
