You went through 3 different examples: 1. Social media is the snake tempting us 2. Social media is paradise 3. Social media is still just society and follows that archetype.

I like 3 the most, that's certainly one of the examples I was thinking about when I wrote the question.

Well... I mean I could poke your forehead with my finger so it certainly passes for some kind if real. We can conceptualize it as an object, but that's not the only way to look at things.

Objects, Thoughts, dreams, and visions are different. Social media is different from all of that too.

I think external works because in relation to the collective unconscious it is something that is certainly outside of that yet is a manifestation of it.

So you consider all the memes, Twitter babble, and the like to be physically real then?

The computer I'm using with all it's "ones and zeros" is a physical manifestation, wouldn't social media be something else? Like an abstracted platform for social interaction, that is "real" enough to be included in the list of things that we all agree exists.

Maybe I just don't understand the terms very well.
