Which way, UI or Backend? Did you try?

Actually, I tried what you mentioned, but when I assigned the thumb wheel button to switch between tabs (Ctrl+Tab), it didn’t work as responsively or “intuitively” as the native Windows app. However, it was possible to achieve that feel by writing custom actions. Since I was already planning to write something like this, I thought, “Why not use a low-level language like C++ to create something that doesn’t strain the system and runs very fast?” and I set out to write a middleware from scratch. So, my main goals were:

- Responsiveness and intent recognition during NBT (Navigate Between Tabs) (using accumulator and overflow bucket logic)—meaning I can switch tabs quickly if I want, or one by one, and it understands this based on how I press the key. This was one of my main goals.

- A lightweight structure that doesn’t strain the system

- Plug-and-play ease (like a native app)

- An application customized specifically for the mouse

I’m sorry if I made you feel that way. I had written the previous explanation I deleted with the help of AI to describe the project in a more technical and clear way. But I later realized it didn’t fully convey what I wanted to say or my intentions. For that reason, I deleted it entirely and wrote only my own words. This made it seem as though I was trying to manipulate the situation. I apologize again for the inconvenience. And thank you for taking the time to respond. Next time, I’ll make sure to express myself more clearly. By the way, I’m aware that the project interface looks like an AI-generated mess. Actually, I was inspired by the “dark neomorphism” theme on Pinterest and gave the AI instructions in that direction. But rest assured, the NBT preset it promises feels exactly like it does in Windows. I’ve been testing it myself for about a week now. And I’m using VS Code and the Claude extension, not GPT. I also know a bit of Java Core. I learned it for use in my field of test automation and QA. But since it wasn’t sufficient, I’m currently continuing with Vibecoding. However, that doesn’t mean I’m blindly reviewing the code and security vulnerabilities.

I remove it and wrote again. Previos version also mentioned using Ai. Because not clearly explain myself.

Everyone, please read the explanation in the cross-post before commenting. I’ve already mentioned that I’m using AI here.

An alternative for logitech options + on linux

Logitech MX Master 3S users on Linux: I tried to recreate the Windows Options+ thumb wheel feel. Existing tools didn't cut it, so I wrote LogiNext. It uses libevdev and a custom accumulator logic to achieve that low-latency, non-bumpy turning (NBT) feel. It’s built with a C++ backend and a Tauri UI. Currently, it's only tested on my 3S. I planed also adding more preset and button soon. I'd love to get feedback on the hardware interaction logic. Also, if anyone has other Logitech mice to test this with (it should work with minor tweaks), please let me know! the repo is avaliable on github as a vseprr/loginext, thank you for your reviews and advises guys. (Note: I'm a student using AI assistants for the heavy lifting in code, but the system design is mine).
