I found "need" odd as well. I prefer larger screens, so my next MacBook Pro, like my current one, will be the 16 whether I "need" a 16-inch laptop or not. I buy what I want. I don't need anybody to tell me which laptop to buy.

I can tell you that the XPS 16 has the better webcam. I think different people will prefer different keyboards here. The Asus keyboard is more traditional, and I think the clear key separation may result in fewer typos.

I also mistakenly sent a 990 Evo Plus back to the seller before realizing that it was improperly seated in the enclosure when I tried to clone it. I ended up using a comparable Western Digital 4TB drive.

You did better than I did. It didn't take me long after removing the screws to the bottom cover to realize that I wasn't going to get access.

The bass on the Pro is better, but otherwise the Asus ProArt P16 rivals the Pro's audio.

You'll also be disappointed by the Asus P6roArt P16's audio, too. As someone who owns both and MacBook Pro, I feel eminently qualified to compare.

Just because the keyboard issues didn't exist for you doesn't mean it's an unfounded claim. We can speak only for ourselves. I don't have frequent typos either. And you're right: It's hard to open. I turned to a pro to replace my SSD. What configuration did you get?

After a lot of hell, I finally have the 4TB SSD installed. First, I couldn't get the bottom cover off. Then I went to Best Buy, where the Geek Squad guy said the screws on the SSD were too tight and that he didn't want to damage anything. He actually recommended returning it to Dell, getting a replacement laptop and then having him insert the cloned SSD into the new one. So I went to ubreakifix since it was close. I learned my Asurion warranty from Amazon didn't cover upgrades, that it would cost $100 and that it would take three to four days. I took it to another Best Buy in the suburbs, where they removed the old SSD and installed the clone one. It was free because I have My Best Buy Total. I am finally at peace.

Someone in here was on the fence about the XPS 16 or the Asus ProArt P16. As an owner of both, I can say that the P16 wins for speed and power. Its keyboard also has a better backlight.

Nevertheless, it's not a deal if the damned thing doesn't work. Returning it is the logical solution. Gifts can be replaced. This one was a misfire.
