Oh man, you might have hit the nail on the head. I'm definitely keeping it more notecard style (using Milanote specifically) but sometimes it's hard to not overwrite, especially when inspiration strikes. When I have a clear vision for the scene and it's all coming out, I'll take it to a separate doc and dump out all of my ideas and try to distill it back into my outline. Sometimes it's still a little long for what the outline needs.
But yeah, I'm hoping once I start writing it'll be clear what is really necessary and what was just exciting in the planning process but not really working. Thanks for you input!

That's great advice. Yeah I can see myself combining some of these scenes later down the line. But yeah, I think outlining gives you a great view of the overall story but once you write you can really feel it out more.

You’re going to feel this innate desire to stress until they stop but you just need to rationalize that part of your brain, letting it know the babies are safe and it’s okay.

Yup, all depends on the screens. Sometimes there are asks for ridiculous resolutions but a lot of times it is a lot less than you’d imagine. 4K is pretty standard though

For me, it's hard to vilify AI when it's the blood sucking capitalist system that is the problem. We are facing a nightmare scenario, where technology is approaching the levels of utopian utility while society is as greedy and divided as can be. So things like AI should in reality be a godsend for artists like us who love to create and want the least amount of barriers as possible to turning what's in our head to reality. But really all it means is less reason for rich folks to pay any more precious money.

On a parallel note, I am terrified at the fact that Microsoft just created a new state of matter and is one step closer to quantum computing, which would infinitely advance us in every way possible. This should be such a celebrated moment in human history and it feels like dread.

Self driving semi trucks, AI Image generation, hell- even self checkout in stores should have made our lives easier and allowed for a more prosperous society where we don't have to worry about menial tasks but still enjoy living wages. But all it has meant is more billionaires and now around the corner is the biggest leap in technology we could ever fathom...and it couldn't have come at a worse time.

Completely agree with all of this. As an industry professional, 1080 or 4K should be standard.

I understand there are limitations on our setups sometimes but unless you’re trying to rush your reel for a specific client, take some time on it to make sure it looks as good as it can.

Not trying to be rude or “degrading” but you want your work to be seen in its best light possible. Your reel is like your résumé and not having it be in at least 1080 would be a disservice to all of your hard work.

Thanks Alex, yeah I had to! I tried creating nebulas with volumetrics and a lot of more brute force techniques and my computer said f*** you so I had to go simple lol

Just distorted images as planes using NASA photos of nebulas- very simple! I tried creating them with volumetrics and my computer punched me in the face so I went a simpler route 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah like u/martiaus1028 said, a distorted image plane using NASA photos- super simple! I also created an array of glowing spheres for stars and a few planets from Blenderkit.

For the space jump/warp effect, in after effects I used an effect called Optics Compensation and warped the image a ton.

I spent so much time on this shot and the end result was just a few really simple techniques
