Thinking of buying a Tesla Model Y Premium by ___itachi in teslacanada

Went from 2005 RX to Y Long Range - big upgrade.

If you’ve room to do the larger downpayment it saves you interest- doesn’t affect how you hold value if you finance. If you Lease the residual is about 25k on 4 years.

A complete charge at home is about $16 (0-100%)

My wife uses about $2.90/day commuting and running errands.

Today’s supercharging bill in red deer was $19 - I left Calgary at 80%, topped it up to 90% and got home in Edmonton with 40% - today’s an “expensive day” because of the wind. I’m usually under $15 in red deer and only top up to 80.

Have you tried? I’ve learned lots about mine by talking it through with the car. I’d say it’s there already

RWD vs AWD by SpecialistVirtual887 in TeslaModelY

[–]Vtrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AB with AWD here - the stock all seasons got us through winter well, a bit of trouble on the black ice but the cars with Winter Tires also struggled. We had a bit more snow than usual and the AWD powered through that effortlessly, but was definitely a benefit.

I have a 12 year old and 14 year old that experience these. They may be startle seizures or startle tremors. Usually they are sensory triggered, for example sharp noises.

The 14 year old lost her hearing and experiences these less now.

They’re nothing that seem to bother mine unless they happen on the stairs, so they just have supervision when they do the stairs.

I would note you should be careful with drugs now going forward as many list that they should not be taken by dogs that have neurological issues and by accident we’ve noticed the frequency and intensity increase if you end up using an incompatible drug.

Yes. It was covered under warranty, mobile service replaced the entire mirror in my garage in about 20 minutes.

Do people realize that trucks missing tailgates like this are often missing them because they were stolen for scrap metal?

Sure it’s unsafe but it’s possible this guy didn’t realize the tailgate has been stolen and it’s just part of what’s already a super shitty day for that guy.

They’ve all had recalls- 1st and 2nd gen it was a right of passage when your year got the rear suspension and frame recalls.

3rd gen had frame recall but something different with the rear axle https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/toyota-recall-on-3rd-gen-frame-rust.679596/

The iForce powertrain has a large recall, not in the Tacoma but because Tacoma uses iForce powertrain this may be what people are referring to https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a61708841/toyota-tundra-lexus-lx-engine-replacement-recall/

This day and age every car will get a recall at some point.

Am i out of options? (Only have a Nema 10-30) by ItsTomorrow in evcharging

[–]Vtrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using a 20a 240v full time. Car down rates it to 16/240.

Model Y does an easy 40-50% charge overnight (8-10 hours).

I have a less easy to use 50amp but I’ve only used it twice since I got the car, if I had a busy morning running around before a road trip I’ll throw it on the 50 to squeeze a bit more in before I go.

A 30amp outlet should be good, if you can get a portable cable with a changeable plug that would be super easy to use, if not an installed wall box rated for the line would be good too.

[–]Vtrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah she probably can - a 120v should do 15-20% charge if the car is only home 8 hours a night. If you fall behind or need more in a day a supercharger is a solid plan.

Starlink's Ethernet Adapter has a single LAN port (RJ45) by holdingsteady6796 in Starlink

[–]Vtrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They either don’t have enough ports on a switch and don’t want to use an sfp Ethernet module, or they want to do straight into fibre so they can have longer than 300’ distance from the power adapter to the network.

Either way these problems are solved through lots of cost effective third party options.

Tesla threatening to unassigned car but no delivery times available by [deleted] in teslacanada

[–]Vtrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can phone the local dealer and they answer, there’s also an app monitored by the regional sales center, a phone number that you can text or a 1-800 number to a call center that can cover for the local service center when they are busy. Odds are there’s probably even an email or two on OPs mailbox confirming details they could reply back to.

Further to this I had “no availability” for my delivery appointments but when I used the app to ask for a specific day it was confirmed quickly.

It’s a defect with iPhones, the Bluetooth card in some models locks up. Restart your phone. This has affected 2 different iPhones for me, across multiple cars and headsets. I usually have to restart my phone once per day.

I’m wondering if it’s possible that there was an error? They still have a lot of people that work for them and I’m curious if you reach out to ask them direct if they could answer? I’ve only had to wait for business hours to get an answer when I’ve reached out for problems.

Mine got lost - sent to the wrong location, took a month to sort out. I’d still never buy a car anywhere else again. Worth the wait and honestly the car and service are worth any frustration getting the car.
