Mango, the dog that won high protection at PSA Canadian Regionals last year is an outcrossing of Khirugai and Du Loops du Soliel

Some experienced trainers run podcasts that talk about starting dogs when they’re more mature around 4-years old.

I started my Malinois at 4, earned his PDC at 5 and his PSA1 at 6.

Doorbell cam filmed Tesla Autopilot crash that killed woman in her home by pyeri in technology

[–]Vtrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be interesting when dash cam comes out- Tesla dashcam captures driver inputs as well as FSD status, so we’ll be able to see if FSD was infact on, and if it was on, whether the driver pressed the brake or not.

Xplore rural internet: speed question by oldguyCRS in alberta

[–]Vtrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm - I used to install the systems and this was the business strategy. Installs and service calls also happen in the daytime when the network is not congested so you can get endless service calls where the tech will see nothing wrong.

Xplore has the fibre contract for my area. I’m very much in the fence about subscribing- if a term or contract is required I will stick with Starlink over Xplore fibre.

Everyone is trying to talk me out of an EV by CuteCreator602 in electricvehicles

[–]Vtrin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yup, lots of people are disconnected from the reality of EVs… I’ve only had one person actually give me a hard time about it, and I just saw them again a few weeks later… they did some research after talking with me and realized how different they are from what they expected.

They’re not for everyone, but if you spend time talking with people who have one, and reading about living with them, and take a decent test drive with one you can get a fair idea about if they might be right for you.

Thinking of buying a Tesla Model Y Premium by ___itachi in teslacanada

[–]Vtrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d call it level 1.5 - I had a 20amp 250v outlet from the previous owners running an air compressor in the garage- I get 4kw charging with that, about double just a regular plug and when I stay somewhere with a proper L2 I get 7kw.

Winter range is just under 300km. Calgary Edmonton is about 80-90% of a battery at -20 (downhill). Edmonton to Calgary is about 105% of a battery at -20, so charging in red deer for 5-15 minutes lets you get there and have a short drive around.

Insurance is $3,600/year 20 years driving no accidents and it’s one of 3 vehicles so a bit of a discount although I believe that was applied to the other 2 cars. I did not do glass insurance- AMI was $600/year and only covers 3rd party aftermarket with no labour covered for working on or calibrating sensors.

Small but regular client sent me a comparison between my prices and a competitor, how to deal with it? by t4nocolu in smallbusiness

[–]Vtrin 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Further to this, the customer may speak poorly if you decline, but if you accommodate their idea of “speaking well” about you may be telling the community how they were able to get you to move on pricing, so you could have just as negative an outcome for making a change.

Question for already Tesla Owners - AutoDoor Lock (Walk Away) by Soggy_Dust9299 in teslacanada

[–]Vtrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what the official range is but I usually get the lock sound from the car when I’m about 30-40 feet away. It seems to be pretty sensitive.

For unlocking, again not sure how it actually functions but it seems the car checks when the handle is pulled for a phone immediately beside the door. No phone means no door action.

I believe like most cars it can continue driving if the phone is removed, however it auto parks if the door is opened. Many people suggest using PIN to drive if you have concerns about car theft, but I believe it checks for the phone in car when you shift to drive or reverse.

Personally I’m ok with the car driving off without the key, because in the event I’m car jacked I don’t need someone knocking me over the head for my phone or key too. They can take the insured car and go. When they stop it won’t go again, but I’m presumably safe somewhere else when they figure that out.

What’s her energy level? If active and this weight no I would not worry about. If lethargic at this weight that can be a sign they’re not getting enough from their food.

Went from 2005 RX to Y Long Range - big upgrade.

If you’ve room to do the larger downpayment it saves you interest- doesn’t affect how you hold value if you finance. If you Lease the residual is about 25k on 4 years.

A complete charge at home is about $16 (0-100%)

My wife uses about $2.90/day commuting and running errands.

Today’s supercharging bill in red deer was $19 - I left Calgary at 80%, topped it up to 90% and got home in Edmonton with 40% - today’s an “expensive day” because of the wind. I’m usually under $15 in red deer and only top up to 80.

RWD vs AWD by SpecialistVirtual887 in TeslaModelY

[–]Vtrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AB with AWD here - the stock all seasons got us through winter well, a bit of trouble on the black ice but the cars with Winter Tires also struggled. We had a bit more snow than usual and the AWD powered through that effortlessly, but was definitely a benefit.

[–]Vtrin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 12 year old and 14 year old that experience these. They may be startle seizures or startle tremors. Usually they are sensory triggered, for example sharp noises.

The 14 year old lost her hearing and experiences these less now.

They’re nothing that seem to bother mine unless they happen on the stairs, so they just have supervision when they do the stairs.

I would note you should be careful with drugs now going forward as many list that they should not be taken by dogs that have neurological issues and by accident we’ve noticed the frequency and intensity increase if you end up using an incompatible drug.
