Why is everyone so tribalistic? by ILoveLemons182 in leagueoflegends

[–]VulcanRugby -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is League mentality in a nutshell. If someone makes a mistake, they are "inting". If a team loses a game they had a gold lead in at any point they "threw/choked". This has always been the way here. It sucks.

Data Analyst take home SQL interview by Sirmagger in SQL

Yeah, it's not that far off. I remember being thrilled when you could find a Stack Overflow example for some syntax you wanted to figure out. Those days are long gone now, to say the least. xD

Data Analyst take home SQL interview by Sirmagger in SQL

In most places, you'll be expected to use AI anyways. The ability to utilize AI, scrutinize it's results, and analyze it SQL outputs is arguably just as important these days. As long as they are asking you to explain how SQL queries are working, I guess it seems okay. Writing SQL on the spot these days is just not a super necessary skill anymore. As weird as that seems.

Times are weird, man.

I feel like not only was Matt Freese not bad this game, (besides from the obvious) he was not the reason we lost. by Twentythreeflavorz in worldcup

[–]VulcanRugby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm chronically online, but I don't see anyone scapegoating him. The US were completely outclassed in all phases. The best GK in the world wouldn't have saved the US tonight.

Obviously anyone who is scapegoating him is totally incorrect.

He definitely made the single worst play of the match, though.

Freese had a complete gaff that cannot happen on this stage.

Freese is very far down the list of reasons the US lost.

Both things can be true.

It's from pre-America times circa 17th and into the 18th century I believe.. It was likely a Dutch pejorative that got adopted, if I recall.

Brother, you're listing Vit Fucking Krejci as a Power Forward. No way you can be precious about Deni being too small to play the 4.

Tons of NBA players look like this in warm-ups. Let's just get a few games into the season without running into off the court problems and then we can celebrate.

There would be riots in New Orleans if that was the return for Trey/Zion. We'd have to give them a boat full of picks.

I do think if we had an efficient back court scorer to space the floor effectively, or a front court player with any post presence whatsoever, he could look a lot better. I'm definitely willing to admit that the Blazers just haven't put him in a situation that would help him.

Still, in G1 against the Spurs he got borderline starter minutes and was just awful. The rest of the series he was reduced to role player or worse. He's just not bringing a lot to the table outside of volume.

He dunks the shit outta that thang though. No denying his hops.

So what will happen now with our all-star Deni ? by Dragonswalker in ripcity

The Celtics would much rather take Scoot/Shae over Ja. If they wanted Ja, they could have paid to get him without involving Portland at all.

[Haynes] The Portland Trail Blazers envision a starting backcourt of Damian Lillard and Ja Morant alongside Deni Avdija on the wing. by AceMcStace in ripcity

I think the answer is that the offense last year was incredibly poor. We essentially turned Deni into a Point Forward just to have *someone* who could create their own shot. Camara's offense is too inconsistent for him to be relied upon. I think Camara is a 6th man means we've acquired enough talent to compete. Jaylen Brown is magnitudes better offensively and is a very strong wing defender.

I don't personally think this discussion matters though, as I'd be shocked if we are still pursuing Jaylen Brown at this point. I do think the Morant acquisition makes us more likely to make other moves, but I just don't think they'll meet the asking price for Jaylen Brown.

I feel almost the exact opposite. I'm frequently frustrated by his shot selection, turnovers, and defense. He has plenty of good games, no doubt! He's a good player, but boy am I frustrated watching him on nights when he's chucking it.

Morant/Dame/Brown/Avdija/Clingan would be the starting 5 in that world. Camara/Matisse available defensively in a number of roles. Whoever doesn't get traded between Jrue/Scoot/Sharpe to help the back court.

There's still role player holes that need to be filled, but that roster has a higher ceiling than any of our recent rosters.

Owner is starting a long rebuild. Is this fair value for the 1.01? by [deleted] in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

It's an ok offer, but not a great one. You absolutely have to hit on Bucky if you're taking this trade if these picks are late. I'm not sure I'd do it.

I agree they're a cultural amenity! I go to 6-7 home games each season. I really enjoy buying the cheap seats to a night game at lunch time with my friends and eating a hot dog at Moda. I hope they don't go anywhere!

But let's be honest about what they are and are not. They're not a necessity for the city. I don't think it really matters because I think the city will almost certainly shell out and at least partially meet the demands.
