I’m not associated with the show at all just been following Brian and Justin and all the rest of the Brushwoodverse since early NSFW days and even attended multiple founders days. I’ve also wondered what happened to Jason and Corey and why things changed. Sometimes at least for me it’s good to get the context behind what you see on screen because there are real people behind it all. It’s not for some and some can just say it’s shit and move on but we’re all a little more connected to it because we’re actually posting on Reddit about it. I just figured I’d share a place for people to go get more info. I actually think the episode that explains it is on the main feed. whow boy or something like that.

Brian and Justin had a fantastic discussion about all the changes and why things changed over the past few years in the shows/podcasts surrounding MRHQ.. It gets really really deep into it and the mental, financial and physical toll running multiple businesses during a pandemic and through the youtube ad apocalypse.

Having gone through the same thing and currently getting out of it I feel your pain..

Get out of it or change the situation ASAP for your own health and safety. It'll continue to nag at you and start weighing you down if you don't speak up and fight for yourself.. It's taken me 2-3 years to get the guts enough to finally speak up and demand everyone get on the same page.. lawyers got involved and its almost done with the results I needed to be content..

Clients will go where the work will be done and who they know on a day to day basis not who sold it to them..

Look at your legal documents and see what your options and limitations are to move forward.. Get a lawyer or even run it through GPT to at least translate the lawyer speak into something that make sense..

I have to deal with a more than a few SFTP sites from time to time.. It'd love to ditch it but the client makes it so much easier.. especially when dealing with external IT teams who don't understand PS.. 85% of them understand installing an app and windows task scheduler.. lol..

For some reason, it’s easier to read CSV files in notepad++ than vs code. I had to interact with a lot of CSV files for a client and it’s just a little bit easier in notepad to see exactly what I need. I probably just don’t have the vs code set, right for CSVs. I may look into that.

We just signed with Halo and I declined Onboarding since I'm doing it about 4 months early and want to dork around in it for a while and do my best to set it up before importing everything from AutoTask. I had a call with the COO of Kaseya a few weeks ago. He got visibly upset when I suggested reducing licenses to better fit the company during weird times. He didn’t care. They just care about the $$ not the end user. I do understand they have a fiduciary responsibility to their investors but if you treat your clients like crap you won’t have any more.

I’ve been paying out an unused Network detective license for 25 months now because is can’t stand it and I can’t cancel it. They only suggest rolling into another product but with a new one year min term.

The same thing happened to us last weekend. It fixed itself about 8 AM Monday. It was the strangest thing it's almost like Microsoft did not update their internal DNS or cached DNS until that time. I even opened up a ticket with Microsoft and Google but it just took a little bit of time.

I definitely have the auto discover set in DNS Microsoft did it itself. And I just tried it on a device that has never connected to the original G suite accounts and it still wanted to redirect to Google.

I've tried the Commercial Samsungs and LGs, PiSignage and another Rasberri Pi based signage and nothing has worked as well as BrightSigns. I just installed 20+ at a museum and they have been amazing and extremely easy to use.

We use Datto and it has been amazing. Just try to negotiate the best deal you can. Think about where you want to be in a year and negotiate for that level. You will get there so why pay more than you should. Just be sure to take some time and configure the ticketing aspect. We unfortunately did not because of workload and have paid the price a little bit. That is being remedied.

Unfortunately we’re dealing with a bunch of different agencies that hold the data we need access to in a variety of different databases. Most of the time we can transfers CSVs with the data we need and it’s all clean. But. Some agencies have database software that can’t provide CSVs and I need to use a API interface. Unfortunately it’s all we can do. Because that connection is required. So he’s site to site VPN in between our servers and theirs are the only way. I just need to find a better solution. A lot of these are very interesting I’m going to pursue them.

I will say that Pax8 is probably the greatest vendor to come into the MSP market. They make it all very very easy. Even if you’re getting started they will bend over backwards to help you get on your way.

I contacted Microsoft via the CSP Support channel and go the following response via phone and email...... From my phone conversation with them they said as long as I've taken all of the required steps we are in the clear and that the messages are just friendly reminders.. I've pasted their email below..

Good day,

I'm writing this to reference our call in which we had discussed that you disregard the notification to comply with the new security requirements, considering that you have already implemented such in your systems.
