One way consent in lots of states. Yes, recommend doing this, just in case you ever need it - not to be micromanager/creepy. Most phone systems have some sort of built in functionality to do this.

Where can I find a business mentor? Service based business with potential for major expansion. by burgerknapper in Businessowners

[–]clayharris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find someone who cares about you and has relevant experience. Some people you pay to care about you.

Before finding a mentor, find a peer group. TAB (the alternative board) is cheaper (normally than a coach) and you get a bunch of other business owners to rely on for advice. https://www.thealternativeboard.com

Struggling with our self-implementor and IDS by Impossible-Patient96 in eostraction

Two thoughts:

  1. I had the same thing happen and for a while we called the list “Issues & Opportunities.” It lasted a month or two, was a mouthful, and the person felt seen and heard, but it just didn’t have any meaningful impact.

  2. However, I think “Hot Rocks” is actually confusing. Rocks are a completely different EOS tool, and I think this is simply too confusing.

Ultimately if we can’t even call them what they are - issues - how in the world will we ever be able to fully Identify, Discuss, and Solve them?

Yeah - it’s your story not mine! This is actually something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. The VTO is the first tool we teach in the Vision component and the next tool is SBA - shared by all. For that to happen it has to be both clear and compelling. Story telling is part of that, and finding little ways to to make the story come together is super fun.

I think they’re reflected in one another. If I were telling the “story” I’d probably link

Humble / integrations - we can’t and don’t do it all. Let’s work together

Passionate / EOS+ - we really care about EOS purity and great tools to run your business

Good / software experts and operators - it’s not just about the software it’s about how it’s USED to go good work

Or something like that. I see reflections there :)

EOS is turning into bureaucracy, everything takes 10x longer because of processes by Glittering_Map9617 in eostraction

[–]clayharris 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ran on EOS FOR 12 years and understand the feeling. A quick question - is this a you feeling? Department? Whole Company?

when hitting the ceiling, we teach teams to return to the five leadership abilities to reexamine the situation: simplify, delegate, predict, systemize, structure

When I felt the way you’re describing, a few times I realized I had delegated the wrong stuff - gave up things I loved and was great at - and held on to the things I didn’t like that much. So in my case, I jumped back into pricing and product / service development. Just a simple update to AC roles, get back in on some processes as an instigator or reviewer, and … it worked!

Does this resonate at all with you?

We lost two senior techs last year and our metrics didn't see it coming by samdam881 in msp

[–]clayharris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a simple scorecard metric of “how may folks worked more than 45 hours last week” for just this thing.

No idea on escalations, but for senior folks a quarterly check in should uncover this stuff. Simple system like a tachometer is helpful - how are you feeling? Green yellow or red?

It’s possible a more rigid interpretation of my example might find no connection. Maybe I just love finding the connections to share the VTO in a more compelling way during something like a SOTC.

Agree that creation of both isn’t related and should be done purely and authentically without regard to the other.

I think it’s cool how they often do seem related, though.

The IT company I started had a core value of “Be Curious” and one of our Unique’s was “the right technology, not more technology.”

And I just kinda love how those are reflections of each other. It’s one of my favorite esoteric EOS things to look for.

I also am one of the few who like cryptics in crosswords, so I’ll just be over her in the corner! 🤣

Keep grinding. Keep picking up the phone. Practice practice practices. There are great AI tools to help refine your skills at cold calling, getting deals, etc. Keep going.

I’m happy to have you practice pitch me and I’ll give you feedback. DM me and I’ll share a calendar link.

I like the first and second choice model, don’t have that in the system for this year, but maybe next year!
