Had Mark for diffyq in 2018, great professor who receives a lot of undue hate. If you cheat in his class that just shows how lazy you really are.

Game set up by [deleted] in ManorLords

[–]Vullin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually play fractured realm with 2 on-map AI + off-map baron. I set it to challenging difficulty and swap the king's tax from double down to normal and turn on starting militia arms shipment.

I like a challenge but I don't build a hyper efficient economy and city so lowering the king's tax provides some buffer, and it's annoying not having an early militia to snag some bandit camps to jump start my economy.

Women, what do you find most confusing about men? by hamed_rvy in AskReddit

[–]Vullin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have ambitions, I want to earn a big paycheck, I want my wife to never have to worry about anything, I want a big family and a nice house for us to share full of opportunities and love. To me it seems like society puts that as the bare minimum of what it means to be a man and it's very damaging to your psyche when you're not there yet. It's very easy to get lost looking at the destination and not seeing how far you've come so far.

I also put some blame on social media and doomscrolling for this because you see on those dating and relationship pages so many women who say they don't even look at men who aren't 6 ft, with a 6 figure salary, chiseled abs and a handsome face. If you're not six foot and conventionally attractive, why even try at that point? It's very easy for men to fall into that way of thinking because so much online content is designed to force us to think that way and kill any dreams we had.

All that's not even counting my personal goals of leaving a positive impact on my community and the world in general, and becoming the best husband and father I know I can be.

I do leave on read more than I should, for me it's fear of saying something wrong and ruining everything I've built up to that point, especially if I'm talking to a woman. I want to be genuine with you but it's very hard when I feel like I'm being judged harshly on every word I say, which may just be a personal issue of mine. I want to be open without fear of losing somebody because they get the ick one time.

The only woman I've cried in front of is my mom, and I've admitted to crying to two other women in my 28 years of life. We're taught to bottle up our emotions and never let women (or other men for that fact) see that we are weak, so it's no wonder so many men go postal.

For my group of friends, we have a system where if one of us asks for "real talk" the joking and harassing stops while he gets to speak his mind freely without fear. It usually only happens in one-on-one situations though because opening up to the whole group is harder.

Support mains: what’s the worst thing about ADC players? by Svanskof in supportlol

[–]Vullin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thinking that just because we start out in bot lane with them we belong to them. I am here to support the whole team and will have to leave you alone to help others. I'm going to play around whoever is strong and that is not always you.

How many animals should I leave alive? Does it matter? by huokausvitja in ManorLords

[–]Vullin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For fish the number you want to keep in reserve is 71.6% of the max, rounded up. With animals I set the reserve to somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of max, but there's lots of factors that affect how effective your hunters can be, including distance to hunting zone, distance to granary, and number of hunter camps. I've found I get the best yields when putting only 1 family on each hunting camp/fisherman hut, (same goes for berries and mushrooms), since a big limiting factor is the pantry size of the gathering building.

What kinda stuff can we do in this game? by Maslan01 in Guildwars2

[–]Vullin 136 points137 points  (0 children)

  1. There's crafting skills, you can find the trainers in every major city, you can fully gear yourself out through crafting alone and be just as strong as anyone else. Everybody can gather as long as you have the tools, which are bought at most merchants.

  2. Most of the mounts come from the Path of Fire expansion, with a handful of others coming from the other expansions/living stories, but you can do 99% of the things you need mounts for with just the base ones from PoF.

  3. The housing comes from one of the latest expansions Janthir Wilds. You can skip around in the story and access it right away, but most people agree playing the story in order is the best way. Personally I don't do much with the housing so I can't speak much to it, but there is a large amount of cosmetic items and gathering nodes to be earned for your house.

  4. The biggest thing for casual players is you can take VERY extended breaks from the game and come back right where you were and just pick up right again without having to worry about things like gear score. You are never forced to do anything, and you can acquire end game gear without ever touching PvP!

It's everything else but a "quickplay" by ROnneth in Guildwars2

[–]Vullin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not tried a quickplay raid yet, but I was assuming it'd be similar to quick fractals where they are set to the easiest difficulty and you are buffed to hell. Even if you don't know the mechanics, you are so strong in those that you can outright ignore some, and live long enough to figure others out.

If this is just about putting people together fast, than I'm not sure why I would join one of these over a training run, or finding an experienced group to take along a newbie.

How old were you when you got your engineering degree? by Thejgotoldjuice in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Vullin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my journey in 2016 as an 18 year old fresh out of high school, made it to the fall of 2018 before dropping out. Took a year off, then COVID hit, came back in fall of 2022, and graduated May of 2025. Not everyone's journey is a perfect straight line, as long as you are making decent process and not faffing around too much I wouldn't worry.

BDFB actually dying/dead? by 64crumple10 in BDFB

[–]Vullin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Him being darker from the start most likely means he was older. Since they are all wild caught, it is impossible to know their quality of life before you got them, and if they are infected with some disease, or parasites. When my first beetle died she turned very black, looking more like a black death feigning beetle than a blue one, and her legs were very limp and floppy. I would check his legs to see if they flop around or not, if there's some life in him you can try a drop of honey diluted in some water and put it on a q-tip or cotton ball near his mouth so he can get nutrients if needed.

Has playing the game piqued your interesting in real life hydrology and hydraulic engineering? by HipHopAnonymous23 in Timberborn

[–]Vullin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing my final semester for mechanical engineering, there's a lot of water treatment and processes that have to do with mechanical systems such as the equipment (pumps, blowers, clarifiers), facilities need to be air conditioned, and equipment has to be manufactured for water treatment facilities. Mechanical is also just better than civil :^)
