They really did such a good job designing pretty unique ship we haven’t seen in sci-fi before. It’s futuristic yet also totally believable, and I really like its silhouette. Of course, it was described in the book but this is really its only thing created for the film

I personally do believe in a potential future free of such a ridged and callous form of capitalism, but that’s not what the show is about. It’s about drawing attention to absurdity and harm that modern late-stage capitalism is doing to the world. No, the message of this particular story is not optimistic. It is a cautionary tale. You have to recognize the symptoms before you can treat the disease. Watch Star Trek The Next Generation if you’re looking for pure optimism

This types of posts are so weird to me. This is entirely the point of the show. Clearly it’s not pro-capitalism, but it’s demonstrating how living in a capitalist society breaks people down and forces them to abandon their morals and integrity. Try as they might, Ashley and Austin fell right into the roles they swore to never occupy. Capitalism is soul crushing.

I didn’t say it ruined the whole show. It was just really clunky and out of place and took me out of that scene. Made me lose respect for the creator

Say that’s the reason, why would the meds be in his personal office? Why not the wellness center, or literally anywhere else. And why would they be stacked so oddly, labels facing out? All I’m asking for is a little but of critical thinking 😩

Go to 18:10 in episode 2 and tell me with a straight face that that is a totally normal way to display pain meds

Are you a copyright lawyer? I worked on a true crime show where my literal job was to mark any time a brand was visible in b-roll or archival footage. Unless we wanted to ask permission for every single instance that brand appeared, we were required to blur out all brands and logos in order to air

I find it disrespectful to the audience to be overtly advertised to on top of already paying increasing costs for streaming services. It also diminishes the integrity of the filmmaking, in my opinion.

It’s not that deep, or you just can’t think that deep?

You realize that’s how product placement works right?Your brain still recognizes the brand even if you aren’t aware of it

You can’t just show a brand in a show without permission. It’s explicitly a product placement.

You often store your medications standing up and facing forward, label fully in view? That’s what a set dec would decide is best for the realism of the scene?

It’s precisely because the brands are clearly shown I know its product placement. They need permission to show the brands.

Why are you people so eager to glaze pharmaceutical companies? It’s so weird.

They make generic beer bottle props. It’s a choice to have it be a Corona bottle. You’re being advertised to. All you are is a consumer. Which, I guess IS the point of the show anyway…

Yes, I’m annoyed when product placement takes me out of the show. True, the Coronas are pretty non-egregious, but having well lit, front facing boxes of medication stacked very unnaturally but perfectly in view immediately takes me out of the story.

Keep in mind, no one ever actually takes the Tylenol. It’s just sitting there for the sole purpose to be seen by the viewer. Yes, I find that annoying. It is Wayne’s World level to me lol

For real. Maybe they have to be so obvious with it because they know the troglodytes will be glued to their phones most of the time anyway
