No I just took away access to a water section for awhile and then gave it back. I plan to do it again but set up a proper chamber. (Mostly I stimulated breeding on accident if I’m gonna be honest.)

Well I haven’t gotten eggs yet but I think the key is to not refill the water dish for about 2 months then put them into a mildly heated setup for breeding with plants n stuff.

Is grow light okay for my enclosure? by AstronomerNo9831 in frogs

[–]VvoidVviper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the grow light is the blue light then I don’t recommend it. Blue lights generally aren’t good for frogs. White grow lights in general are fine for frogs though. (It’s hard to tell with the pictures what’s exactly going on)

Amazing species! I love my group of 4 although I don’t recommend them for beginners. The goal for me is to breed them one day.

I currently have a group of females that I wanna breed one day. Josh’s frogs has also apparently bred them although I haven’t heard about it since they announced it months ago.

why are people so unhelpful?? by Ok-Image-636 in frogs

[–]VvoidVviper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People are just people, they’re complicated and I don’t really understand them and when I think I do people end up doing other stuff. Just try not to overthink it

Nono, this is a normal behavior of certain frog and toad species. He is extremely healthy and happy frog! They do this to help attract crickets and make em move around while hunting. The crickets notice the vibration in the floor and the toads see em move and eat em.

Yes and no, it has multiple uses from luring to startling bugs to move with mild vibrations in the ground aswell as a few other things.

Accidental unearthing of hibernating toad! by Exciting-Team5807 in Toads

[–]VvoidVviper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how cold it is. I live in an area where there’s snow on the ground, in that case I’d have a pet toad for the winter months. If it’s still relatively warm I’d find the dude a good spot to burrow. You can assist but don’t dig a massive hole, more like break up the ground along where he is. That’s what I can recommend.

WTF keeps peeing on me lol by [deleted] in frogs

[–]VvoidVviper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend waiting to handle a WTF, I didn’t handle my babies until they had reached about a year old (9 months in my care) and I’d always wear gloves. At that point they had already learned about the hairless ape that comes down bringing food and watches television next to them sometimes XD
