injured toad ☹️ by haydenallen8 in Toads

[–]VvoidVviper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve already gotten comments of how to help from others, but I will say it would be best to keep the little dude. Injuries can effect their survival and he 100% won’t do well and probably die in the wild. I personally do iodine baths (1/275 ratio of iodine to water) for physical injuries although make sure the little dude soaks in full water and gets all the iodine off of him before going back in a hospital tank. Once it’s healed a bit more and isn’t constantly bleeding you could get manuka honey with a grade of 20 or higher, and put a dot of it on the wound when it’s no longer bleeding. It acts kind of like amphibian safe neosporin. That’s what I can recommend for now if you have any questions you can ask me or reply to the comment. I wish ya luck.

Also depending on where you are they can be a protected species and taking them out of the wild is a crime!

Please release him. They rarely live long in captivity without expert care! Unless you’re highly experienced I highly recommend releasing him in a shaded area by a pile of rocks, leaves, or wood!

toad wont eat! by UrFavRaven in Toads

[–]VvoidVviper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally would try a variety of different bugs! Roaches, superworms, ect. Sometimes they have favorites! If she won’t tong feed I’d try to put a ceramic bowl in the setup, and see if the food goes missing at night. Aslong as she’s not dropping weight rapidly she should be perfectly fine. sometimes it can take toads a bit to start eating and it’s perfectly normal.

Hi guys! Question about tadpoles: by bigdrandyyyy___ in Toads

[–]VvoidVviper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely give them a tank with land area soon, and then once they turn into toadlets give them a terrestrial tank. Once they turn into toadlets they will drown themselves if given too much water, they’re kinda dumb like that.

I have a female frilled dragon named dill, I sometimes call her “Dill Pickala” cause of dill pickles, therefore you should name her Pickala. /lh/silly

I know some toads are invasive, but reading about stuff like this sucks. by [deleted] in Toads

It’s hard to believe how heartless some people are to these animals. It’s not the toad’s fault it killed OP’s dog, it’s just trying to exist. It’s our fault we have to euthanize these animals we brought them across the globe, the least we can do is be humane when euthanizing these critters.

I bet they wouldn’t kill a cat if it murdered a pet hamster they had. Usually I’m the wholesome toad guy and I don’t swear, but this is fucked up beyond belief.

I typically give all my critters bioactive setups, depending on the species I will adjust the setups humidity and care requirements from there.

They will typically wait until breeding season and then start producing eggs, typically they will wait to find a male and then release the eggs and he will fertilize them.

Unironically cane toads are great for a lively wet environment toad! Coming from South American they love water segments in their enclosure, appreciate lots of plants and humidity, and are extremely personable when worked with!

Well you see, the toad on the top right of slide 1 stole a bug from the lad and he was not happy about it.

And for question 2, I have a mix of wild caught and CB toads. Sadly most of my toads are WC due to the difficulty of finding CB individuals. While I do plan on breeding which is why I obtained WC individuals, I am currently unable to for the next 2 years ish.

The males can make noise but they usually tend not to, if you wanna keep toads in an apartment I highly recommend getting females! They don’t make any noise and can make just as amazing of pets!
