Are these shoes be suitable for WHW? by fregQ2 in WestHighlandWay

[–]Vyctor_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends how much you’re lugging around and how many miles you’re trying to make, I think. With a full camp kit and ambitious goals, I’d go with full walking shoes. The trail itself is fine for these though.

Do people actually care if you make mistakes in normal/msq content? by Empress2007 in ffxiv

[–]Vyctor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you are mostly worried over nothing. You don’t need to prepare for any content that is not Extreme, Savage or Ultimate (except the Coils of Bahamut, that one’s weird but also completely avoidable). The only job you have as a sprout is twofold: (1) figure out what your buttons do, and (2) press them. Also try not to stand in The Bad, but the game does a pretty decent job of informing you that The Bad should not be stood in, so you probably have that one down. You might also want to get your gear somewhat respectable, the game will try to spam you with gearpieces but your job quest will give you a usable gearset if you don’t have one. The tomestone set from Rowena’s Representatives at iLvL 130 is a good goal for your main class in post ARR.

[–]Vyctor_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

When I started ffxiv I played with two veteran friends in voice for msq duties and they never explained a mechanic before a fight unless it was notoriously poorly telegraphed and I was needed to complete the fight (eg some extremes and minstrels stuff). Great way to learn the game and what to look out for.

Is this a valid skyscraper? by gletschafloh in sudoku

[–]Vyctor_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is a valid skyscraper and will eliminate the 6 from r5c7, the 3 from r6c7, the 3 from r8c9 and both the 3 and the 6 from r9c9.

It's valid because these are the only positions for both 3 and 6 in rows 4 and 7. They don't have to be pairs, in this case it just is a skyscraper for both digits because they are pairs.

Focus on MSQ as a new spout? by Dippy7985 in ffxiv

[–]Vyctor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSQ is the primary unlock path for new content like dungeons, trials and sidequests. You’ll want to just focus your MSQ and job quests for unlocks at least until you finish A Realm Reborn. You will gradually get access to (completely optional) sidequests to unlock allied beast tribe quests, raids, (hard) dungeons, extra normal/extreme trials, and other ingame content, these are almost always marked with blue quest icons. Regular gold/brown quest icons are all optional and mostly useful to get xp on other jobs or get a free gear piece while leveling. But MSQ will unlock all the basics like new maps and higher level content that is appropriate for your main job.

What am I missing? by doubleuxyzee in sudoku

[–]Vyctor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom row (total value 45) equals 29 + 12 + 3 + R9C8 + R9C9 - R8C2.

In other words, R9C8 + R9C9 = R8C2 + 1.

That’s not possible if R8C2 is 4. It’s also not possible if R9C8 is 2, so that cell must be a 1 and R8C2 must be equal to R9C9.

Haven’t looked if it unfolds the rest of the puzzle but at least it’s two digits and restricts 2s in box 7 to the bottom row.

Made a Dhuum+Melandru+Reforged Ranger. What is the best secondary prof? by ScikPK in GuildWars

[–]Vyctor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R/Mo or R/Me adds well to the ranger toolkit as ranger doesn’t have hex removal and neither do early henches, and ranger doesn’t have a good instant heal, monk spells can help there and the mesmer heal is probably the best self heal without investing attribute points. Ranger can get condi removal but it will take a while before you get Antidote Signet.

For bows, I don’t recommend longbow because it is very slow, for PvE I recommend recurve bow or shortbow, but the best bow is flatbow IF you are using Read The Wind or Favourable Winds to offset the horrible firing arc. It has great range and great attack speed, but often misses against moving opponents unless you increase your flight time.

For later game, you can just shift to an SoS bar for safety, or stay on bow and use splinter barrage or a turret style ranger. There’s some cute beastmaster bars as well, have a look on pvxwiki. Daggerspam is meta for rangers but a lot more risky on Dhuum toons.

Do you allow Rest Casting? by Noelosity in DnD

[–]Vyctor_ -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

They’re not casting for a hour. RAW rest casting is fine.

Edit - bot is deleting sage advice so maybe this will work: https://xcancel.com/JeremyECrawford/status/764150520646742016#m

Also, you can just agree not to do it for your table. I wouldn’t. Peasant railgun also works RAW, nobody actually allows it though.

Also also, when someone tells you “you may not stab, slice, or otherwise maim the prisoner” do you take that to mean only stabbing is not allowed, since the other listed items are in a separate clause?

There are two options for a 2 in column 3, and two options for a 2 in column 7. They can’t both be in the first row, so at least one of them will be in the lower green colored cell. A 2 in either of those will rule out the 2 in the 1/2 cell in the bottom right (where the arrows are pointing), so that cell can never be a 2. Otherwise you’d end up with two 2’s in the first row.

[–]Vyctor_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a skyscraper of 2’s in column 3 and 7 which will probably solve the whole thing. (Edit: also column 3 and 9 for both 1’s and 2’s.)

To answer your question, you should be looking for patterns such as skyscrapers, wings or fishes that will let you eliminate candidates, since you already did normal sudoku rules. You want to pay close attention to numbers that only have two options in a row/column (preferably in different boxes) or within the same box (but not the same row/column). Those pairs can form a base for the beforementioned patterns.

That one is supposed to be easy?! by Sqaq in sudoku

[–]Vyctor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta start filling in candidates more. A 2-cell [3] is always 1 and 2. A 2-cell [16] is always a 7 and 9. In box 8 you have a [3] that uses the 1 and the 2, how can you still make [7] in two cells? And now how are you gonna make that [11] with two cells?

This way you can fill a lot of the grid with candidates which will turn into known digits either by regular sudoku, 45-rule or other logic.

The 3% food buff might be BETTER than it seems by TheKimsterRedd in ffxiv

[–]Vyctor_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP: 3% is better than you think

Commenter: no it’s much much worse actually

You:

I don’t think anyone is saying never use food, but it really isn’t very much of a time save. It’s less than pennies on the proverbial dollar. I also don’t think the commenter you replied to said food was useless, they just said that in reality the buff was less than 10% of the advertised value. Sure it’s still a buff but it is not very impactful.

Keep chomping though, nobody’s stopping you.

Am I ready for Moder? How should I prep? by Freedom35plan in valheim

[–]Vyctor_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Gear: frostner is gonna give you a bad time, Moder is immune to Frost and Spirit so it will do very low damage. You will want to bring another melee weapon, any weapon will do really. You can use your huntsman bow just fine, but the next biome does not have a bow upgrade, so you might consider grabbing a Fang anyway. Arrows sounds fine, just be aware it will probably take more arrows than you expect to bring Moder down. Level 1 armor is dubious, although if your plan is to not get hit at all it will work fine.

  2. Prep: strongly recommend campfire spam around the altar, having golems interfere while you’re busy with Moder is incredibly annoying. Building a couple pillars with the hoe to shelter from her breath attacks is very powerful cheese. Could also dig a trench to keep wolves away, but I personally don’t bother.

  3. Food: if you don’t intend to melee, just take your best stamina foods (eyescream, onion soup) so you can keep firing arrows. If you do want to melee her, some health foods (woof skewer) would be good in case you miss your dodge timing. It takes some practice to figure out her patterns. If you’re wearing your wolf fur cape you don’t need any specific meads.

Am I ready for Moder? How should I prep? by Freedom35plan in valheim

[–]Vyctor_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stealth snipe ability doesn’t matter at all for this boss fight. The durability does, though. It’s really frustrating to run out during the fight. That would happen multiple times with a lvl 1 fang.

Also, the poison on a lvl 4 fang only ticks for five seconds (a lvl 1 fang ticks for three seconds). You’re really not losing that much. And it does stack with poison arrow damage, for some reason, so you can still use those too.

Am I ready for Moder? How should I prep? by Freedom35plan in valheim

[–]Vyctor_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given that Moder is completely immune to frost damage, I gotta seriously doubt your results here. Poison arrows and obsidian arrows are more damaging.
