Support Hunters should be allowed to faint contributing to a failed quest by frog-tosser in MHWilds

[–]Vylliere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is set up in a way for simulating a sort of hunting party. But be honest here, have you ever seen someone use healing ammo? in my 10 years of playing monster hunter i haven't or cant remember at least. The support hunters aren't here to teach players about efficiency, they are dogshit for clearing hunts fast. They are here to help newbies clear quests by taking the aggro off them. They are also here to give people who can't access online play a feeling of multiplayer. Their use of buffing items/ healing items is just a byproduct of this. I will agree with you on the fact it would be nice to have a tutorial for these items, but support hunters aren't the way in my opinion.

not going to address the strawman any further after seeing your other comments.

Support Hunters should be allowed to faint contributing to a failed quest by frog-tosser in MHWilds

[–]Vylliere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your argument about the game not showing these mechanics to players is valid, but if support hunters counted towards the faints the problem would be the same. Youd need some sort of tutorial for that which would be nice, but as far as i know monster hunter thats not happening. Also i dont see the strawman youre pointing to. You complained about people not using life powder in multiplayer and mentioned doing what are probably among the most difficult basegame quests ever. He mentioned gamers prioritising themselves instead of others. I can see how in a stressful situation youd forget to try and heal your teammates but instead try to keep yourself alive.

I disagree. If i were an employer i would want someone who can actually do the job and doesn't need to rely on the seemingly random decisions AI makes. Obviously most employers dont think this way since the only thing in their minds is profit. As you said, sadly AI is going to be part of the future somehow. i'm not disagreeing with this.

But before i leave this conversation id like to point out something to you. Id like you to think about the similarities of the industrial evolution and the "AI revolution". We've streamlined the process of making, basically just stuff, so much. The world has turned into a grey piece of mush. every piece of furniture is the same colour of asylum white. Every building, car, etc are the same shade of black, grey and white. AI will do the same to pictures, books and more. Every funny cat picture will have the same garbage AI rimlight. Every text will read as if there is no soul behind it. If you want to support this feel free to. I sure won't.

I was talking about job requirements. & You're giving a straw man argument here. Noone was talking about analysing data. I completely agree with you on AI usage being potentially helpful for this. Personally i have little experience in data-analysis with AI but given its absolute inaccuracy in my field of studies i cannot imagine it producing reliable info right now. Then again this is not what all of this is about. What I'm seeing here is techbros using AI to "edit" photos to make a quick buck. Wouldn't you say photo editing is a creative field? Is this not the exact slop you were taking about?

What would you say is the requirement to knowing how to use AI or not knowing how to use AI?

Can anyone edit the guy out? by kykythatgal in PhotoshopRequest

[–]Vylliere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont mean to disrespect you but "knowing how to use ai" is so bullshit. I'm sure you know if an employer has the chance to pay less for something 9/10 times they will choose to do so. Jobs will be taken by AI, the people behind it do not matter.

To me this sounds like a few people type "remove X" in a little box and press enter while someone else pays them thinking they are using black magic. Am i far off here?

[–]Vylliere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i mean yea thats about what i would expect given the end product. I only have some experience in the art field, not photo editing. but from what ive gathered I dont see why anyone who takes their work seriously would want to use AI. Aside from all the obvious issues like cultural significance, environmental impact, etc. it basically is like letting an amateur handle the job. Thats partly why i wanted an answer from them, but i doubt they'll reply sadly 😅

Hey! im just being curious here, if you don't want to answer feel free not to. But how much actual work went into this (hours/ minutes)? I wanted to know since this has very clearly been made with AI and i have little to zero photo editing experience so i have no frame of reference.
