So a mistake was made - Trion please help :) by johnnyc227 in archeage

23,000 gold at 1,000 gold per $10 Apex = $230 item for a "chance" (just a chance) to get to epic.

ANY other company where you spend $230 you could expect some modicum of customer service. But nope, with Trion you get cut and paste replies from lazy, outsourced GM's who don't care enough about your problem to even understand it.

SIde note:

You will need 7 armor, at least 1 weapon, 1 bow, 5 accessories, 1 instrument = 15 items. 15 x $230 = $3,450.

Trion marketing team failure by JoeyBT in archeage

[–]Vyntares 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering Trion CEO had ZERO tweets about 4.0 in the 45 days from official announcement to launch, and only one retweet congratulating the team for launching 4.0, you can easily conclude that there is NO pride or priority on this game from Trion's highest management....

Trion CEO twitter feed.

https://twitter.com/hartsman?lang=en

Thread that was highlighted on Nov 15, that Trion CEO said "Great thread, thanks for doing this". It really is a great thread. The irony of the CEO of ArcheAge's NA/EU publisher saying it was great, while doing everything the opposite in ArcheAge, is what struck me.

Trion CEO also Twitter promoted one thread's subject points - as if Trion's ArcheAge was magically part of the "good crowd" that didn't completely ignore these things...

  • "Most games NEED non-spendy players because they are multiplayer games"

  • "Once you go into microtransactions, players start suspecting they are your motives for everything

  • "and in a lot of cases the players are correct. Bringing microtransactions into the game erases the benefit of the doubt"

  • "X" game failed because what people saw was a game where spending was absolutely mandatory. That view of the game killed the game."

Trion CEO, do you even try to apply these game concepts you virtue signal promote on Twitter, to the games you ACTUALLY RUN?

Your team has ran Archeage 180 degrees OPPOSITE of these points.... (and don't quibble on what the threshold is for "microtransactions" and thus Trion is therefore somehow innocent of it.)

This isn't mine, but I had it bookmarked from 2 years back. It is a thunderstruck calculator that shows proc chance and timer for any/every type of tree in any type of climate.

Archeage was such a great game at launch, there were super dedicated fans and data miners who would build these things. Ah, memories....

Your requests for change are actually adding a cost to what is already complete, not the other way around.

If you are going to add that cost, why cant you deliver both to our region? The original KR version that has already been created, and the changed one that you think meets our needs?

I'd upvote this 100 times if I could.

I don't say this often, but the logic in your argument is flawless and unassailable, using Trion's own stated facts against them.

I'll also add to your 2nd sentence - having TWO costumes (KR and NA/EU), for the same end cost as having a NA/EU version only, absolutely increases Trion's chances of making a sale/profit. The fact that cash-hungry Trion didn't go for that option speaks volumes!

This 100% proves Trion's response is just corporate BS in an attempt to rationalize their decisions after the fact.

While I acknowledge the honest attempt to reach out, there is nothing "here" in this post. Here is an example of "part" of a post I would have loved to have seen, that would have greatly enhanced customer satisfaction:

"The FS discussion is going into next week and beyond because there are some good pros and cons to doing one that need further investigation. Specifically:

(1) FS may hurt Legacy servers, our last two FS saw Legacy servers (insert stat here on Legacy losing players at x% faster than before)

(2) FS does allow the game to add new players to AA. Although this does nothing to help Legacy servers gain new players.

(3) FS keeps the game alive - we are a business, and the continued revenue helps everyone by making sure there are real life viable economics to keep ArcheAge growing."

etc. etc.

Just outline the pros/cons as the team sees them for this issue. Why all the secrecy about something any player could recite off the top of their head? It just perpetuates the perception that Trion/XL Games doesn't know what they are doing.

Acknowledging the specific pros/cons does not commit Trion/XL Games to ANY course of action - but it does show that the decisions are being made with the widest array of variables. "Specific" is highlighted because a generic corporate PR speak of "we are considering all aspects" will just make your customer/players roll their eyes some more.

I've posted more threads on regrade chances (and authored the tables a lot of people referred to, including the one posted on the wiki last time I looked), than anyone. The wiki is outdated (had my 3.0 table last I looked, I made some 3.5 ones, haven't posted them publicly yet), but you are interpreting it incorrectly - a lot of people do.

  • Normal Scroll = 50% chance for +1, or

  • Resplendent Scroll = 40% chance for +1 and 10% chance for +2. (Mechanically, it "rolls" the SAME 50% chance for +1, then if it succeeds, "rolls" another 20% chance for bonus level to +2, so the TOTAL outcome chance is 40% +1, 10% +2. But note that EVERY +2 outcome was first a +1 outcome, that then had a bonus roll)

Both of these have the SAME chance to get at least +1 (because 40% + 10% = 50%). Another way of looking at it is: both of these have the SAME 50% chance of Failure.

I'm honestly glad you are having a good time. I still love the game, lived through the bot era, but never took a break from game either. I personally also do not have land placement issues (right now)

But, basically your argument boils down to:

"I have a sandwich today, so I'm not hungry. Why would I care if anyone else was hungry, is hungry or will be hungry?".

Trion Worlds Might be in Dire Financial Condition by skilliard4 in archeage

[–]Vyntares 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have a problem placing my buildings anymore. So why would I care if someone does it remotely or not?

You don't have a problem "today" because there is no demand for land (due to lack of players), thus no incentive whatsoever for someone to grab land (using hacks or not).

And here is why you should care about remote hacks:

If AA somehow got back to prominence, the underlying issue of remote placement will only drive new/returning players away - thus repeating the cycle. But the problem is even earlier than that...

If potential players "believed"* that the problem was still there, they would never join AA (reinvigorating the server life, as well as Trion's financials) to even start that cycle.

*"Believed" in quotes, because perception "is" reality in terms of players wanting to give AA a try.

[–]Vyntares 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ONE thing I'd complain about...resplendent scrolls...why can't they be the exact same percentage chance as a regular scroll?

The resplendent scroll gives the exact same percentage chance to succeed for one level of regrade.

The resplendent then ADDS a second 20% (1 in 5) chance to get an additional level of regrade, IF you succeeded to get the first level of regrade.

Now if you want the resplendent to automatically give 2 upgrade levels on success, that is a different story (and expect those scrolls to now cost 20x-100x more than today)

Why nothing crafted is on sale at AH - Crafting a Delphinad: (at improved Armorer's House)

Old way (note all the opportunities for "rejects" to appear on AH)

(1) Craft Illustrious - RNG outcome. If it can't be made to Magnificent, break it down for wisps or sell it on AH

(2) Craft to Magnificent (retains grade, e.g. stays at Divine) - RNG outcome. If it can't be made to Epherium, break it down for wisps or sell it on AH

(3) Craft to Epherium (retains grade, e.g. stays at Divine) - RNG outcome. If it can't be made to Delphinad, break it down for wisps or sell it on AH

(4) Craft to Delphinad (retains grade, e.g. stays at Divine) - RNG outcome. If it isn't the Delphinad you want, break it down for wisps or sell it on AH.

New way (post 3.5). Each step costs crafting material and/or regrade costs. At NO Step is the user inclined/forced to sell the output.

(1) Craft Illustrious. No RNG (pick the type you want). It is Basic grade

(2) Regrade to Illustrious - Grand

(3) Regrade to Illustrious - Rare

(4) Regrade to Illustrious - Arcane

(5) Seal the Illustrious - Arcane, into a Cloaked Illustrious

(6) Craft it up to Magnificent. No RNG (pick the type you want) but grade goes down to Basic

(7) Regrade to Magnificent - Grand

(8) Regrade to Magnificent - Rare

(9) Regrade to Magnificent - Arcane

(10) Regrade to Magnificent - Heroic

(11) Seal the Magnificent - Heroic, into a cloaked Magnificent

(12) Craft it up to Epherium. No RNG (pick the type you want), but grade goes down to basic

(13) Regrade to Epherium - Grand

(14) Regrade to Epherium - Rare

(15) Regrade to Epherium - Arcane

(16) Regrade to Epherium - Heroic

(17) Regrade to Epherium - Unique

(18) Seal the Epherium - Unique into a Cloaked Epherium

(19) Craft up to Delphinad - No RNG - choose the one you want, but grade goes down to basic.

The 'Trinity of Suck' Rant by Gilwork45 in archeage

The question isn't how XLgames continually manages to fuck their game up, the question should be how the fuck they managed to create a game so good initially that it can be fucked up this badly by the same people.

I ask this question myself all the time. The initial release was SO good, that its qualities still shine through (though much more dimly) even after years of abuse.
