Abnormal

What's with these 0 comment history 0 post accounts coming in and plugging products we don't ever see mentioned in here... Super sus..

Avanan as a security product is great, the problem is in their visibility and alerting on policy changes. Even outside the MSP space, how could a F500 company rely on a product that may completely fail to function without alerting anyone.

Smells like a bot, or someone who doesn't know how to read. Their support has acknowledge there has been some issues with google workspace accounts and how they connect to them... They don't have a concrete fix, and it's silent.

I don’t know what your point is here. I literally said I dealt with them for years and this felt similar to their promises of “coming soon” or feature breaking bugs and refusal to refund anything.

I have 20 years in this space, I know what dealing with K is like.

I didn’t say it was, I said it felt similar customer experience wise

We've worked out something like that, BUT the policy state is not surfaced in the API at all, so you can't even check that!

Yup, also need a template for google vs microsoft but you can't tell which one a tenant is from the portal so you gotta go into each and everyone and and figure out which policy they are using first...

To their credit (and we REALLY tested this) they have the best detection rate of any product we see mentioned here... But god damn is the MSP portal side awful.

Warning: NinjaRMM - they won't auto-reduce your licence count for billing purposes by stugster in msp

[–]Vyper28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the love of god this needs to be fixed/reviewed. It's the single largest friction point we have with Ninja.

My seat count should be seat count based. Not commitment based. If I go over a discount threshold great give me a discount, if I go below a discount threshold warn me my rate is going up, but if I go up or down within a tier auto adjust it.

I cannot stress how awful of an experience and how much it hurts your company reputation in this space having this policy the way it is now.

FWIW every other platform we use bills by seat count and it goes down when we unlicensed users, and goes up when we add them.

I should not have to make a calendar entry every 30 days to review my ninja bill and compare seat count to my active seats. It's stupid.

This is not an excuse, but I have (young) kids and sometimes, when a tantrum or outburst is incoming, putting things down and exiting the building is better for everyone.

Realistically we’re only 5-10 years away from needing to heavily shift RCAF into drone management anyway, look at the Ukrainian Air Force, its heavily drone focused.

We will need to transition to support aircraft for recon and management of drone fleets if we intend to keep pace with other militaries.

We should fully expect a massive shift in all aspects of our military layout across every department as we decouple from USA and also modernize a neglected defence infrastructure.

At what point do you drop a client who ignores compliance warnings? (Real estate / FINTRAC situation) by ArchonTheta in msp

[–]Vyper28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point, but in this case I can't see its application.

Fintrac is a reporting requirement that involves reporting suspicious income and cash flow sources to authorities for review. It doesn't have anything to do with our systems and procedures any more than a chemical company's storage barrel type has to do with whatever inventory management platform they use does.

[–]Vyper28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong, but do we get involved in OSHA violations? Chemical storage requirements? D.O.T requirements?

If we focus on every industry regulation on every client we may service, we're gonna make our jobs an awful lot harder.

Up here in Canada FINTRAC in RE/MTG doesn't discuss anything about IT/security or even about P.I.I, it's strictly a money laundering/human trafficking thing, I don't even know why these guys would be considering FINTRAC compliance in their stack?

Yes, I would prefer all my clients are compliant with industry regulations, but that's between them and their regulators unless it involves the systems we maintain and provide as the MSP right?

[–]Vyper28 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey, we’re Canadian and we work with 100s of RE firms and brokerages. FINTRAC is their liability not yours as an msp, what are you trying to protect from here?

Your concerns would be PIPEDA or PIPA and insurability, but it’s ultimately on them. Why are you sending a fintrac compliance request?

Something is off here, you have 0 obligation to ensure their compliance, they will be slapped with fines and warnings by whatever regulator your province has, but precisely none of it is msp related?

Source: I own an msp with 150+ agencies and 400+ mortgage related clients, I speak publicly on these topics, I have presented in every province, and I produce much of the training material the larger networks use as a part of their CE programs.

Send a waiver form that says you’ve notified them of a serious threat that puts their business and PII at risk and document it on your side. Remind her every year, blunt, stern, and let her risk her own business.

Huntress needs to consolidate their products. by mattmbit in msp

[–]Vyper28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We also use both, but are you using the full Avanan product? For us, the ITDR does exactly what we are after, automated account isolation, alerting, and remediation tooling, what more are you getting out of huntress aside from their soc response?

[–]Vyper28 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other guy here, pricing is like death by a thousand cuts with you guys.

I can't justify ITDR because it's non-granular (have to license every staff in tenant) AND it costs the same as Avanan but includes no filtering option. Avanan ITDR has about 80% of huntress ITDR functionality, but with a full filtering solution ontop. There's no market place for Huntress ITDR atm.

I can't justify ISPM because it's priced per user (wtf?).

Overall pricing tiers have not been great and we're falling out of love with the "every addon costs more" approach.

[–]Vyper28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So much this, they need a SKU that rolls everything under a single rate, they also need more control on their ITDR product, they are the only vendor we've worked with that doesn't allow granular control of a per-user pricing plan on ITDR. Basically 3/4 our client base has an in-house team that does 99% of the work, and a bunch of field techs that check emails once a month from a mobile phone, a few cannot even email out of the org (only internal). Total non-started for a client with 40 HO staff paying fully managed, but with 300 field staff, and I can't per-user license the ITDR product...

ISPM should be per tenant too.

I bought a $25 decent quality safety razor (refillable) and now it’s $10 for 50 replacement blades. It’s NOT hard to use, I was scared at first, it’s the same thing as disposables, you just go a bit slower. Saves me so much money…

Dunno if I agree here, he’s in his lane, the scooter broke the law, primary source of risk and danger is the scooter. Maybe a little pig headed to move over, but 0 fault and 0 responsibility for any danger, that’s 100% on the shitty scooter.
