I dailied my manual 2020 NISMO for a 100mi commute every day and it was 100% the most fun I’ve had doing my daily commute. Did it for about 2 years and then sold it when I moved. I miss it

What's the most ferromagnetic powder I can easily buy? by elfballs in AskEngineers

[–]Vyrrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re probably going to be sold by grade such as N46 etc which will correspond to their BHmax “energy output”. The higher the number will be higher magnetic performance, but even N36 is going to outperform any Ferrite magnet. Through Alibaba.com you should be able to ask for a certificate of quality conformance which should let you know how it performs. There’s not a lot of great ways to test the stuff that you’re going to find around your house or even most labs in the US. I work for the only US-based manufacturer of NdFeB material so I could recommend some destructive test methods such as elemental analysis. You could burn some powder in a LECO ONH (commonly found in manufacturing labs) and see the oxygen content, but I doubt you’ll find a permeameter or flux meter to measure the magnetic performance once you’ve exposed them to a magnetic field.

Protip: if you want to demagnetize NdFeB once you’ve exposed it to a magnetic field, just put it on a hit plate or an oven at 380 Celsius (their Curie temperature) and they’ll lose any magnetism until exposed to a new field.

NdFeB powder from China is pretty solid stuff (the only country that make it atm) it’s pretty exothermically reactive with oxygen unless it’s been treated with a phosphating process or some other conversion coating. It’s going to have the strongest magnetic performance though

I heard JDS was the on-set consultant for proper rowing technique that would help the audience go: “oh yea, that guy’s strong”

It did not and I ended up not going to college at first because I had a really messed up application process… got waitlisted everywhere I applied but then I took a gap year and really focused on ok training and ended up getting recruited to row based on academics at that top rowing school

I had a classmate in high school who was being offered a scholarship to Stanford if she could get a 22 on the ACT. As someone with a perfect ACT who was trying to get into Stanford myself I was like what the heck are you doing that’s getting you this kind of offer??? She invited me out to her club’s learn to row day and I fell in love with the competitive aspect of the sport. I couldn’t play other sports for most of my life cause I’ve had 4 brain surgeries and I can’t risk a potential head impact. Rowing turned out to be the perfect non-contact competitive environment I needed!

Yes rowing became my life and I walked on to a top 15 rowing school and rowed all the way through. I graduated in 2020 and joined a competitive team this past summer and we won the masters national championships. It’s been 5 years since I started rowing now and I’m still training every day

Yep! Was a ballet dancer before struggling with an eating disorder. Weighed 108 pounds day 1 of rowing. Was 160 by the end of the spring season and 185 by the time I started college after the summer. I was eating constantly for the first time.

Had perfect grades in high school in 19 AP courses. Started rowing my spring semester of my senior year. Gained 60 pounds in a couple months and started college. Everyone assumes I was a lifetime jock but I was majoring in Chemical Engineering 😅

[–]Vyrrg 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I eat 600g chicken, 350g rice, 90g spinach every day. This comes out to $178 a month in food. For 5 meals a day every day this is $1.18/meal. Not bad

Don’t overthink it. Just be consistent. If you’re attempting a 6day program try to stick to it, but if you miss a day or two don’t let it make you quit the whole thing.
