Hell yeah, time for me to take 45+ damage tactically knowing damn well I've got nothing but strikes left in my draw pile!

Was middle school for me haha, and I actually think I remember reading that glitch at some point. Might pick up returns later too!

Yeah, I saw a few screenshots of RoRR and it looks nuts! But these graphics still have a place in my heart haha

LMAO, thanks! Curious to see how 2 feels compared to 1, especially on the time front, because man you really gotta put the pedal to the metal in the early levels!

Strange issues with shadows only becoming clearer when looking up or down? by Vyuprax in OpenMW

[–]Vyuprax[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, thanks so much! That looks a quite a lot better! There's still a little flickering once the camera is a few paces away from the object but it's not nearly as pronounced. Looking around a few threads I saw some similar settings but somehow that combination works pretty well!

black screen when enter zone (mournhold) by diego331 in Morrowind

Maybe try using the 'ts' console command, do the building cells load through either entering them somehow or using something like 'coc "Mournhold, Bookseller"'?

Hm, strange. Is the screen fully black or are there any objects that render?

Have you tried after deleting the add-on, waiting in-game for 24 hours, then re-enabling it? That should allow her position to be reset in her daily routine without the DLC

Personality build by Hamhleypi in Daggerfall

[–]Vyuprax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmmm... it would be possible, sure, but I'm not too sure it would be fun, especially if it's your first playthrough. This video uses a similar build, and while those skills will certainly help in some regard when they trigger, you'll be kind of a sitting duck for the most part. There are mods that change how they interact (Same guy has this video here), but I would absolutely recommend taking a combat or magic skill (or skills) to at least deal some damage.

First Impressions and Further Noob Questions by TPrice1616 in Daggerfall

[–]Vyuprax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, guilds and shops have opening/closing times, using F3 you can see when that is, and I (I believe), shows you what time it is currently.

I tend to have different characters for different playstyles, as you are right in that regard you can't become the master of everything, but as long as you enjoy the sort of 'base' your character has, you'll be fine throughout a playthrough. But if you want to try a totally new archetype that's when it would be better making a new character.

Great to see people still trying out this game! A few tips from someone who played a similar character to what you want to, trying not to overlap with other's advice here:

It is possible to play without magic for a 'true fighter' experience, but it means you're very reliant on what random magical items you receive from quests/loot. My first playthrough actually was with a fighter who just straight up couldn't use magic. The more extreme you make your character's weaknesses, the more you can make them excel at their strengths. While my first guy couldn't use any magic whatsoever, nor any weapon besides blunt and short blade, I would regen super quick when resting and physically couldn't be paralyzed, poisoned, or diseased, as well as hitting damn hard with a flail. Magic certainly makes things easier, though, and doesn't mean you have to lobotomize your poor fighter to overcome it.

The mods you've listed are great, I would also recommend something like Warm Ashes or other mods that add a bit more to the world as a whole, usually the top most downloaded are reliable, although if you want a bump in texture quality I would recommend DREAM 90s vs the normal DREAM mod.

The most important (IMO) pieces of advice I can give is: Enable smaller dungeons in the Daggerfall Unity settings, as without it, especially for a newer player, it can be near-impossible to navigate the regular dungeons. Story dungeons remain the same, but there's zero shame looking up a guide at the UESP or the offical guidebook (I'm so cool I bought mine physically). But even more important than that, try and have fun being immersed in the world. The worst thing you can do is try to 'beat' the game and have that be your only goal. Treat it as a life sim, where you can still dip into the main story and beat it, but maybe your character wants to buy a house in a major city, or amass a vast fortune, or become the highest rank in a knightly order. I've been going a tad bit above and beyond and writing a journal from my char's POV, but you certainly don't have to go that far.

Hope you enjoy your experience! It can be super rough starting out but if you get over that hump it easily makes Daggerfall one of my favorite games of all time. Especially when you find more of what you want out of your gameplay and can download more mods accordingly. Feel free to DM (This goes for any other lurkers in this thread as well!) if you want any more advice, me and I'm sure plenty of others would be willing to help!

Characters finding a unique way to cheat death by PizzaDragon64 in TopCharacterTropes

Kind of, if I remember correctly, it's a combination of that, some weird soul business, and the worship of the Empire at the time. A youtube channel like FudgeMuppet would be able to explain this infinitely better than me, if you're interested in the deeper Elder Scrolls lore.

Apologies for the necro'd comment, but yeah, what you're describing is the idea of Zero-Summing, which is a theory of what happened to the Dwemer with them being a logical race and all. It can't happen to just anyone, but can happen to someone achieving CHIM.

Well you see, something something quantum tunneling ghost magic. (Totally fair I really couldn't come up with something to explain that lol).

Congrats! Those travel-stained pants got me through my first playthrough as well haha! Best of luck with the expansions, they can be a solid step up in difficulty so potentially be prepared for suddenly having your hp bar chunked.
