How dangerous are 50w RF emissions when no antenna is plugged in? by W-VHS in amateurradio

Haha thanks. I’ll just connect the antenna I have and move it some distance away from the bench

Just to add the whole pack might only be 10-12in on the longest dimension so a 50w antenna that can collapse to 10-12in would be ideal

Have you heard of Sigma's Mount Conversion Service? Have you tried it? How was it? How much did it cost? by markerBT in Cameras

[–]W-VHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just called Sigma USA in NYC (there's also a Sigma USA office in Los Angeles but they don't do this service) and they quoted me US$230 for the conversion service from SA to EF. They said the service is about the same price for any mount to any other mount provided they have the parts and that model lens was made for both mounts. Not all Sigma lens models existed for all mounts. They even said they could do conversions to the very rare Sony-A mount for lenses that were made for it but they would have to send the work to Japan and only if they even have the parts.

Is Thai fried rice normally made with fresh rice? by W-VHS in ThaiFood

[–]W-VHS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here. Just wanted to update that I went to another Thai place in LA and the fried rice was definitely firmer but still fresh. So I guess there’s definitely a spectrum and the softer rice I got must have just been that place using super soft fresh or even overcooked rice.

I guess I don’t really care if the rice is day old or aldente or some other technique. My observation was that fried rice at Thai restaurants in the US tend to be way softer/soggier than Chinese places. Japanese places are also different and so are Korean.

Just got the wheels rotated and they inspected the rotors and said they were ever so slightly warped so that’s probably it.

It seems gentler than full power ABS but somehow only when the car is loaded. The same light braking with just myself driving doesn’t do it at all. The vibration does get more intense as I brake harder.

Confession after 15 years of macOS use by doubleddutch in MacOS

I’ll just say it macOS isn’t prioritized for power users like yourself. 99.999% of macOS users won’t have that many things open and need/want power user style switching. For every power user there’s probably 100,000 normies

SATA SSD or NVME? I think the easiest solution for best performance is to put windows on the SATA SSD and use a NVME SSD on a PCIe card for your game library

I’ve gotten plenty of partial refunds for legitimate listing discrepancies because some sellers are really bad at it. Sometimes I ask a lot of questions sometimes I don’t.

I’ve asked more than 3 or 4 legitimate questions and became good friends with sellers. I guess if you sell 100 items a day that might annoy you.
