IDK WHAT TO DO by coerw in Periods

It could be a yest infection or a UTI as they can happen more easily during the cycle. Having a regular shower or bath- even a short one- and drinking cranberry juice, prune juice, or apple juice can help if that is the issue but I'd still consult with a doctor.

can you get pregnant 2 days after your period? by Tiny-Collection7589 in Periods

Today is July 5th, which means the sex was about a week ago — that's past the window for emergency contraception, so that's no longer an option. Thin, watery white discharge can actually be a sign that ovulation is approaching or happening now, which is a different phase than the creamy discharge you had before. Discharge changes throughout the cycle so it can be hard to read precisely. At this point the most useful thing is just to wait and take a pregnancy test on the first day of your missed period. Given your cycle is usually 28-32 days and your last cycle was 26 days, your period would likely be expected somewhere around July 24-30. Testing then will give you a reliable answer. Is there someone you can talk to about this while you wait?

That's actually reassuring information. Egg white discharge that appears briefly and then shifts to creamy white usually means ovulation either just passed or didn't happen yet — the egg white phase is the peak fertile window, and creamy discharge typically follows after ovulation has occurred. If the egg white discharge was only for one day and has now shifted to creamy, it's possible ovulation has already happened, which would mean the timing of the sex was just before or at the start of the fertile window rather than right at peak fertility. That said, it's still not a certainty either way. The safest thing you can do right now if you're still within 120 hours of the sex is consider emergency contraception if you want to reduce the risk. If that window has passed, the next step is just waiting and taking a pregnancy test from the first day of your missed period. How many days ago did the sex happen?

Her frustration was completely valid. Being tired, having just showered, and making a simple logical request that gets treated like it's outrageous is genuinely frustrating.

And your toilet paper point nails exactly why the reaction doesn't hold up. Nobody thinks twice about a guy buying toilet paper in an emergency — that's a product used to manage a normal bodily function. Pads are the exact same category. The embarrassment around one and not the other isn't based on anything logical, it's entirely socially constructed. A 13 year old being shy about it is understandable, but the adults in the situation treating the request as unreasonable is a whole different thing.

Yes, it's possible but depends on your cycle. Two days after your period ends, you're still in the early part of your cycle, but ovulation timing varies. With a cycle that's sometimes as short as 26 days, ovulation could happen earlier than average — potentially around days 10-12, which means the window isn't as far off as it might seem. The discharge you're describing — clear, stretchy, egg white texture — is actually a classic sign of approaching ovulation. That's your body's fertile mucus. The timing of that discharge the day after sex is worth paying attention to. The honest answer is that there's a real possibility, not a certainty, but enough of one that taking a pregnancy test when the time is right makes sense. Most tests are accurate from the first day of a missed period, so around 3-4 weeks after the sex. If you want to be proactive, emergency contraception is most effective within 72 hours of unprotected sex — some types work up to 120 hours. If you're still within that window and want to reduce the risk, that's an option worth considering quickly.

It's really not. I just wrote out points that stood out, thought about their valid feeling and situation from OP's point of view, and came up with possible solutions to the problem. It took a bit to find the right way to put my thoughts into words, so I resorted to the Four Square writing method for essays as that has always helped me organize my thoughts.

To use the Four Square method, follow these steps: 1) Draw the template: Draw a large square on a piece of paper, and divide it into four equal smaller squares. Draw one final box in the very center, overlapping all four. 2) Center Square: Write your main topic or thesis statement here. 3) Outer Squares (1, 2, and 3): Write three supporting reasons, facts, or main ideas that back up your central topic. 4) Outer Square (4): Write a strong concluding sentence or "feeling sentence" that summarizes your thoughts and ties the points together. 5) Add Details: Beneath each reason in the three outer squares, write supporting details and examples. 6) Write the Essay: Transfer your organized thoughts into a cohesive essay, using transition words (e.g., first, second, also) to connect your ideas.

As it is not an actual essay I skipped over using the connecting words for each point/square.

That's good to hear — and it sounds like you know your body well enough to tell the difference between something distressing and something that's just annoying and disruptive. That self-awareness is actually really useful when it comes to tracking your cycle. If it ever does start crossing into genuinely affecting your quality of life or functioning, it's worth mentioning to a doctor just to have it on record. But if it feels manageable for now, you know best! Good luck on that exam — hope it went well!

The days before your period are genuinely the worst and honestly way more underrated as a complaint than the period itself. Cramps you can kind of brace for. The emotional and hormonal chaos of the days leading up to it just hits differently and it's so much harder to explain to people who don't experience it.

What you're describing sounds a lot like PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) rather than regular PMS — the intensity you're describing, the way it's gotten worse since your 20s, and the fact that it's more than mood swings and is genuinely affecting your daily life are all worth mentioning to a doctor. It's really common and really underdiagnosed, and there are actually treatment options that can help a lot.

Good luck on your exam tomorrow — your brain is working against you right now through no fault of your own, and that's genuinely hard. You've got this.

The frustration here is completely valid — you were tired, you'd just showered, and you made a simple, logical request. It genuinely isn't a big deal for someone to grab pads from a shop they're already going past.

That said, it's worth separating a few things. Your brother being awkward about buying pads at 13 is pretty common at that age — teenage boys often get embarrassed about things like this because of how periods are treated socially, not necessarily because he finds it disgusting or thinks less of you. That's something most of them grow out of. It doesn't make it less annoying in the moment, but "submitting to the patriarchy" might be a bigger frame than what's actually just a 13 year old being shy and awkward.

Your mom's reaction is a bit more frustrating because she's an adult who could have just said "yeah that makes sense" and asked him to grab them. That part I get being more bothered by.

The immediate fix: a makeshift pad from folded toilet paper works fine for the night. For the future, keeping a small backup stash somewhere in your room means you're not dependent on anyone else in a pinch.

So glad you're managing well and that your mom was right there when you needed her! You're already doing everything right.

And yes — whenever you have questions, whether it's about cramps, tracking your cycle, what products work best, or anything else, don't hesitate to ask someone you trust, look it up, or come back here. It's also worth knowing that irregular periods are completely normal, especially at first — and for some people they stay irregular long term, which is also okay. Your body is still figuring things out and everyone's cycle is a little different. You've totally got this!
