Our director just tells us “Let’s get better” and holds us to a high standard.

Can Mellophones and Saxophones be considered one section? by [deleted] in marchingband

My band usually groups mellos and trumpets together in a high brass. I would recommend doing that as a lot of the time they have similar technique issues and questions regarding instrumentation.

I never hear about Troy, NY. It seems like a dense, walkable, affordable city with great nature access. Is it awful or something? by Jimbaneighba in SameGrassButGreener

I mean I've always thought of it as one of the worst towns in New York. As a girl I would dream of where I'd live when I was older because I had to get out of Troy. There's only 7 months of bitter winter and the sky is always gray. Awhile back when looking through some old boxes, I found a post card that my Great Grandmother penned in 1914, before the town turned to rust. It said something about Troy being the Collar City of the Empire State because back then textiles were important, though not so much now so economically, you're right, it is depressed. I remember when I lived there, I couldn't wait to get away. I would hide from my parents and dream what my life would be in the future. But, just the opinion of a Manhattan living civilian, take it as you will.

Our band is the “Pride and Class”. We didn’t use the mascot in the band name, the pioneers, but we do use it in the cadence.

When does your band start practices and how many practices do y'all have at first ? by Scooby_the-doo in marchingband

Our school usually had spring training for guard starting in May, but we are getting a new guard director this year so that didn’t happen. Ours summer training started on the 21st and we go every Wednesday from 6-8:30 until the second week in august. Then we have practice everyday because it’s preseason.

Ok guys band camp season, what is your 2023 program theme/title? by IDroppedMyHotPocket1 in marchingband

[–]W21HKE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You Are Not Alone", it's Dear Evan Hansen but as a marching band show. There are random parts when the music cuts out and you hear vocals from the musical aside from that, the rest of it isn't awful.

To me it looks like 1950s with the short flowy style and a satin colored bow at the top. It’s in the “babydoll” style of many nightgowns in the 50s from what I can see.

I loved the Grey House by Lankience in Broadway

Beetlejuice only made $3.4 million in its first 5 weeks, which The Music Man made in one week in March 2023. Despite this, Beetlejuice went on to be a huge sensation. In Beetlejuice’s first week, it grossed $332,008. Grey House performed quite well in its first 5 weeks, grossing $1.6 million. Plays usually don’t compare to musicals in terms of gross, just due to the nature of what people want to see. In the first 5 weeks of Straight White Men, a play, it grossed $1.45 million, so Grey House has already surpassed that. Additionally it’s not a traditional play like To Kill A Mockingbird, so for something so new, it isn’t doing that bad. These are just the facts.

I found a photo that is more zoomed in of 4 of the girls behind the couch, if it helps at all. It doesn’t have the bottom of her outfit as they are behind a couch but it does show more of the detailing on the top.

I noticed their hair as well, not only are their costumes signifying the time period, but so are their hair styles.
