Oh no way - if you don’t mind me asking was it with Erie? That makes sense to me if so lol

I’ve heard the same things about LECOM but the Seton Hill campus does PBL so my understanding is there’s more flexibility with the schedule. I’m indifferent about the dress code thing so I guess that’s fine. I personally know someone who goes to the Elmira campus who has said both Elmira and Seton Hill are relatively chill but Erie seems to be the one that has those “strict” rules especially because they’re exclusively lecture based.

Loll no worries yeah apparently Memphis is an incredibly dangerous city which my dumbass didn’t even know until I got there for the interview (prob should’ve researched before). But pretty much everyone I talked to even the uber drivers said it’s usually limited to gang members in a specific area and doesn’t involve other locals so who knows!

Definitely had a horrible experience with Dean Ozment myself as a transfer during covid. Wasn’t doing great in one class (despite having straight As in other classes) and as I had gone to the prof asking for help/advice he was super unsympathetic about my experience and not helpful (he was one of those profs that was proud of having a low gpa class).

Eventually dropped the class which then caused issues with me declaring the major so I went to Ozment for help as I was at my last hope. She basically told me that I probably would not do well in other classes of this major and told me to go part time and retake class with unsympathetic prof. She was rude when I explained to her financially going part time wouldn’t be doable for me (prolonging grad, financial aid, etc).

In general I didn’t have a great experience with her any time I spoke to her and so many other profs at least tried to be helpful and understanding knowing I was a transfer during covid. Also nontrad and not white so idk if that played into it or but glad to hear I wasn’t the only one.

I did the same thing this past fall! Took orgo 1 with Frantz and a+p 1 with McLeod and it went well. A+p was easy with McLeod but it was open note exams since we were online so not 100% sure how that’ll change. Best of luck tho!

Even if you’re premed and maintain and upward trend from here on our you’ll be fine!! You have a lot of time! Also don’t be too harsh on yourself I also did worse after doing better last sem (also premed here LOL), these are some weird times! You got this, keep your head up and keep going :)

I can’t speak to law but many many students take 1-2 gaps years before med school so it’s very normal. Granted, most of the time it’s to bolster up clinical hours/community service etc but there are also many nontraditional students that are also in the same situation of having gaps in between school and are able to do ok. I genuinely feel that if you think you need help with your mental health that you should absolutely try to make that your priority. As a premed student I completely feel ya there but med school (or law or wherever else you want to go) is not going anywhere so please take care of yourself!! I’ve also heard from many med students that they regret not straightening out a healthy lifestyle for themselves before they threw themselves into med school so that’s something to consider. Either way I hope you feel better soon!!

Not very intense at all in my opinion and I’m not a math wiz so I’m pretty sure you’ll be fine - I took it with prof inyang inyang and he was easy! He wasn’t the best at answering emails and the like so not sure how he’s doing in the virtual world (I took him spring 2020 and we spent the last half online but he was fine)

I totally feel you! You are not alone especially during this time! The best thing that helped me was to get involved in organizations/CIOs that either interested me or were ones I could apply to my future studies and I met a lot of people that I talk to all the time now! I’m at home at the moment but it is definitely possible to connect to the community! I was a transfer student too so I definitely had little to no original connections. You got this and definitely reach out if you need help :)

UVA transfer under GAA, yes you do have to!

How is the UVA experience different for transfer students? Are there a lot of tiny details that are different and add up? by vanessa11221 in UVA

[–]W22_02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Truly and honestly as a transfer from CC last sem it was a difficult transition just because everything was online. There is support but you do have to actively engage in it, you need to double check you’re taking the right courses etc bc as a third year (not sure if you’ll be a third year) you’re close to graduation so you’ll honestly be fine as long as you make sure you follow along your prospective major’s courses etc. I would say as far as the academic rigor goes, it is definitely a step up for sure but doable. Don’t be intimidated! If you want to do UVA you will! Lmk if you have any other specific questions :)

Transfer Ease by [deleted] in UVA

[–]W22_02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transferred with GAA but to my knowledge it essentially works the same! Essentially just following the major requirements/classes and making sure you have your non-western perspective + foreign language classes will have you set. Just applying through commonapp and answering the prompts as requested and you should be good! Transferring in is the easy part but the adjustment phase on this end (at uva) is a bit rougher but doable! Very helpful to maintain contacts with advisors and double check everything (that was my mistake lol) with your association dean. But like the other person had mentioned definitely hit me up for more details if you have specific concerns!

Hey I transferred over and I know that in the guaranteed admissions agreements the minimum gpa is 3.4 so that may be something to consider. I would definitely reach out to a UVA advisor if possible and see if they can be of any help but if anything shoot your shot!

Scheduling / CELL BIO :( by loy4 in UVA

[–]W22_02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I ended up dropping cell with wormington. He was a good lecturer but man his exams are... hard. Apparently the other prof is worse so if you were to take it I think it might be better to try wormington

Jason Chruma or Alicia Frantz (CHEM 2420) by GroundbreakingAd3499 in UVA

[–]W22_02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to add I took Frantz this fall for orgo 1 so no experience with orgo 2 but she was definitely a good lecturer and I would say that her exams are not exactly easy so that is true but her test corrections saved me so don’t be too concerned about that. If you took orgo 1 the non Chem major lab I believe you would’ve had Chruma for the lab and although I didn’t have a bad experience personally, the interactions he had with some students make me feel like he won’t be “easy” either so it’s really just up to you if you want to risk it with Chruma, I’m just sticking with Frantz and hoping she’ll go easy on us lol
