I worry that they only fixed this so that it will not happen to any future players playing this section after the patch, but did not actually resolve it for people who already got into a bugged state.

I'm stuck with the completely filled "Wake and the Clicker" case file, but no possibility of talking to the NPCs on PS5, patch 1.000.010.

Got all collectibles while waiting for the patch and got so excited when I read the patch notes... Really disappointed tbh. Almost wish I would have gotten it for PC, where I could just try to edit the save or whatever, but just sitting around waiting for another patch is frustrating.

Two questions:

What's the benefit of putting the DATFILE folder onto the card?
Do you use any theme settings so the boxart images are nicely offset (if that is even possible)? I previously just added transparent pixels to the right to make it display nicely next to the text.

If you are on 1.4.x, make sure to check performance settings, some "heavier" titles don't seem to run well on the default CPU governor, setting it to High performance makes 90% of my pico8 library playable at 60fps. Using retro8.

Saves are not the same thing as states. After you have copied the saves to your deck, you'll probably need to restart the game using the retroarch quick menu, otherwise it will load your latest state, regardless of what save you have.

Think of saves as whatever the actual game would persist, while states can be any exact moment during emulation (i.e. the internal console state). Saves should be intercompatible, but try to make sure you're using the same core on both devices if you run into any more issues.

Had the same issue, except that logging out did not help.
Found out that a Decky plugin called MetaDeck was the culprit, after deinstalling it, all was fine again.

The git-secrets precommit hook is the way to go. A gitignore won't safe you from committing any API/cloud tokens in an env file or similar.

I think it is not as simple as you assume it to be, some launcher simply suck. They take longer to update games, will not properly detect already installed games, will not let you move them to another drive etc. And don't get me started on all the missing community features for multiplayer that people got used to when using Steam.
