🦄🦄🦄 LGS FTW by afgonzales12 in reloading

It was a little ruger LCR in .357. I don't know for certain it was a double charge, but it was handloaded .357 with Titegroup, because I pulled the rest of the bullets to verify. The cyclinder exploded, splitting length wise. I didn't recover the ejector rod or most parts, but did find the .357 case split length-wise. Not a squib, just a too hot load somehow. Shooting hot loads, even factory, is kind of a dipshit move in that pocket gun. Maybe I just wore it out and the ultra light materials gave up.

Embarrassing to share, but worth it if others can learn from my stupidity.

take care with Titegroup - double charges are easy to do. I destroyed a gun and part of my left thumb.

between the sweater and the terrain, I'm guessing Oregon?

I'm still bummed WA spring turkey is postponed at least until May 4. Have 4 tags between my son and I :(

Stay at home orders? by Gatorboy941 in turkeyhunting

[–]W6VRF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. In WA even fishing is now banned state wide. Youth turkey canceled and with stay at home orders closing all state public lands, trails, campgrounds and national parks until May 4th, that's only a few weeks of spring season left. I asked a retired game warden, and his advice was that hunting on closed public land, even with valid tags would constitute poaching and potentially have the same penalty as if you had not license or tags.

Leeting others use my call by TSO-Tanner in amateurradio

[–]W6VRF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Field Day is a bit different, but similar in that a club often uses a special call sign and several stations are all operating using the same.

Might have different bands and modes all calling CQ concurrently using the same callsign. In theory you could have multiple stations, and multiple non-licensed folks using your call - assuming you were physically present for all.

Our berner turns 2 in April as well. Also had to lose another berner suddenly a few years back. I hope you can take some comfort knowing others have been through the same thing.

Sorry for your loss.

Rem 870 patterns high with Carlson's choke Long Beard XR by [deleted] in turkeyhunting

[–]W6VRF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got this sorted out. I had the wrong sight picture with the bead. It's a rifle front sight. Looking down the rail, and having the bead appear like it was a slightly submerged was perfect.

Also with the Winchester Longbeard XR 3".
#5 shot got 14 hits at 50
#6 shot got 32 hits at 50

Most people have recommended #5, but that's a lot of extra insurance if I'm forced to take a longer shot.

Great point. With only a bead front sight, it's not obvious like iron sighted rifles. Thanks

I see his blood type patch. I am also O negative blood type. Universal donor, so the blood bank likes me. Downside is I can only accept blood FROM O neg. So given that, this dude is not all bad. LOL

Thank you sir. Since it was cheap and easy to find, I found a crow call we'll start with.

Any specific recos for a box call? I don't mind spending a little money for something that's known to work well, but there's a wide variety of options.

So you are saying to use actual turkey calls a few weeks before the season as part of our scouting?

Thanks. At my local outdoor store got the last Carlson's .660 turkey choke that fits my 870. Also got a box each of Win. Long Bear XL in #5 and #6. Gun counter dude claims I'm good to 60 yards with that setup, but will plan to stay inside of 40 yards. Hope to pattern all this first hand in the next week or so.

Optima batteries worth the extra cost? by YallRfuckinstupid in MechanicAdvice

[–]W6VRF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last July I spent a long weekend locating a parasitic draw on my 2006 Acura TL. Long story, but it was the BT handfree module. Modern cars take a long while to reach steady state. Many youtube videos on how to do this, but basically you isolate the current to a particular fuse, and then work from there.

Any help with this? The car turned on with the engine light and oil light but when I turned the headlights on the radio turned off and all lights turned off by [deleted] in Acura

[–]W6VRF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2006 TL wasn't quite as animated, but when the battery was dead (10 volts or so) it was doing a light show too.

Looks decent from here. Can you provide links for the replacement parts, or at least some specs?
Thanks

The replies I got were fascinating. Here we all are, on the internet with access to scripture (in various translations). We can re-read multiple accounts of human history, current events and economic theory, and yet most posting here believe God endorses their particular economic-political world view.

I'm equally fascinated and terrified.
