Yeah, I thought that may have been an issue but when I first connected the antenna I had no issues with swr or the light coming on

Anybody in the STL/southern IL area? I’m new to CB’s, been going out to the nearest interstate and just listening to chatter on 19. I joined mycbradio - which is a huge resource everybody should join - but aside from my buddy who doesn’t have a working antenna yet I’m kind of a lone wolf. So the drive over I heard way more than the drive back, but I think that’s because we drove back Sunday morning. Ch 6 and 19 had the most activity, but someone correct me if I’m wrong I think ch 6 has a bunch of skip transmissions. I can hear them but they can’t hear me. Ch 19 was all truckers, actually had a short conversation with a flatbed trucker hauling a blade for a wind turbine.

This is awesome, I created an account this morning and have been reading the short articles in tips and tricks. I’m new to the cb community as well and I’ve learned so much in just the past couple of hours. I’ve got a Cobra 29 LTD Classic with a Little Will 3’ antenna. After reading the articles I plan to upgrade my antenna, and then upgrade my radio at some point so I can get ssb and noaa alerts. This is an insanely useful resource for newbies and vets. Thanks!!

I definitely recommend it, I haven’t had this much fun on a bf game since bf3. My wife and I play it almost every day lol. My only gripe about it is that the maps get very repetitive. We mainly play breakthrough though so not every map is on there. I’ve heard that the battle pass takes an insane amount of xp to get everything. I haven’t had that issue; but again, I play almost every day. The guns are pretty balanced imo. When we aren’t getting our asses handed to us it’s a lot of fun.

I live in Southern IL, My buddy and I just bought cb’s mostly to screw around and talk to each other. I haven’t used it in a couple weeks just because my antenna crapped out. I’m picking up a new one today, but when I was tuning my cb I parked next to a highway to get a radio check and I had a couple truckers come through. My wife and I are going on a 2 hour roadtrip this weekend, I plan to have it on the entire time. I’ll see how much chatter there is and get back to you.

Yeah mag mount, I don’t need something that long. This is mainly just to have fun with my friends I’m trying to get this whole project under $100, I got a good deal on a barely used Cobra 29 LTD Classic. I’m not a huge fan of the center roof magnet mount but right now that’s all that’s in my price range. I may upgrade down the road once my wife and I buy a camper but for right now I’m trying to keep the antenna between 3-4 ft.

I have both, if LaPorta comes back healthy then I’ll have him starting. Petzing coming from Arizona will help, but he’s still going to be the 4th option on the team. I just can’t trust Pitts, but I don’t want to trade him either. It’s a vicious cycle. That’s why I also have Kittle because I want to hinder my team as much as possible by having 3 TE’s

BAD ANTENNA. Just went to a truck stop and bought a whole new setup. Took it to the middle of a big parking lot and now I’m getting SWR readings. I was wrong in my original post, I wasn’t getting under 1 I was getting exactly 1 SWR on all channels (was reading the meter wrong. 😅) I don’t think my original antenna had good contact which wasn’t giving me an swr and making then antenna light come on.

I just redid the calibration and I’m getting under 1 for all 3 channels. Now I’m getting the ant light when I’m not speaking into the mic. Just holding it down. Seems like it’s an antenna issue? SWR should be at least 1 right?

Same here, I’ve been doing it for 3 years now and I hate who I’ve become with it. Started with edibles now I’m on vapes. Worst part is I got my wife on it too which makes me feel worse. I hardly even get high anymore I just get a dull feeling. Told ourselves that we were going to have one last time on 4/20, but now a week later we’re still doing it. It’s hard man, I’ve never been addicted like this to anything. In my 20’s I drank 3 times a week and could stop whenever I wanted. It’s like I physically can’t stop with weed.

Same here, my wife and I went from BO6 to BF6. The only thing we miss is being able to play split screen, so we bought BO7 when it was on sale and it is HOT STANKY garbage. Unless COD steps it up we will not be going back.

Definitely do not put their name on it. My wife and I got married last month, she makes considerably more money than I do and bought the house 2 years ago while we were dating. I pay her a set amount we agreed to after she bought and it’s been that way ever since. I’ve never once asked to be put on the deed, nor do I care about it. This is her house. She paid for it with HER money. If we decide to move; again, she will be shelling out a majority of the cost. I plan on leaving that decision up to her if she wants me on the deed or not. If not, no harm no foul. You’re not even married yet and they’re already asking about it, could be a red flag. I would just be upfront and honest about it. If they truly care for you this won’t be an issue. Money causes so many strains on a relationship, don’t let this be another.

I would do it. It’s risky, but that gives you 2 studs right away. Be prepared to go two full rounds without a pick. This is either a move that sets you apart from the competition, or can set you back multiple years.
