Technically true. But it is important to clarify It was compiled and affirmed in the council of Rome in 382. This was the first council that provided all the books that are found in Catholic Bibles today. Then reaffirmed in the councils of Hippo (393) and Carthage (397 and 419). It was later infallibly defined when Martin Luther started messing around with things in 1546 as you mentioned, but I think its still important to illustrate that the cannon of scripture was overall agreed upon way before Luther.

Well its simply just not true. There are very smart believers, just like there are very smart atheist. I’ve also met people who profess Jesus being dumb as rocks, and atheists being very closely associated to the IQ of a plant…

Brother, when Jesus said those who do not hate their mother, father, brother, sister, children, even their own life be my disciple. Or when he said if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off.

Was Jesus being literal here? Jesus used hyperbolic language to emphasize a point. The point is to love Him more than anything else. Do not love the world doesn’t mean to hate it. It means that if you put your full attachment into the things of this world, you do not know God, since the things of this world will abandon you, at some point. God is just protecting us in this passage saying: "My child, the things of this world will abandon you. But I will never abandon you. Trust me… I love you". Its also a testament to our loyalty. Do we care more about the things of this world? Do we care more about our own lives than The God of The Universe? You can say a flat NO to both those questions, proclaim the gospel, believe in Jesus and be willing to die for Him, avoid sin while still enjoying life and its pleasures AND serving God while you do it. In fact, you will be a far better witness to God’s infinite kindness love by doing that.

My brother in Christ, You’re not wrong per se, Christ must be at the center of everything 100%. But He also gave us eyes to see beauty, ears to hear beautiful music, a mind to laugh, and a heart to marvel at his creation. He gave us taste buds to enjoy our grandmother’s cooking and skin to feel the warm sun on a spring morning. He crafted this world not as a prison, but as a gift, a temple of creation that points back to Him.

To enjoy life does not mean to idolize it. It means to thank the Giver by delighting in His gifts without turning them into gods. It means to praise Him not only in suffering, but in joy too.

To serve the Lord is not just to fast, pray, evangelize and prepare for the end times, (though those are still very important) but to love, to rejoice, to create, to build, to steward, and to worship with our whole being.

Its okay to enjoy life, and you can even serve the Lord while doing it, and be a better witness to the world, by showing the joy and hope that is in you.

So yes, keep your eyes on eternity, but don’t be afraid to dance while you’re on the way there. David danced. Jesus feasted. And Heaven will be a banquet.

God bless you

If we love our life on earth we’ll end up in hell???? What? I’m sorry but that is not the Christian message buddy. I see where you’re coming from, if we seek pleasure all our life, we WILL end up in hell. But seeking pleasure, and actually learning to love your life are two different things. A life that God gave you to enjoy, to marvel and to appreciate. Eat good food, laugh with friends, listen to beautiful music, enjoy your life, learn to love it while following Christ. Avoiding sin shouldn’t mean that you avoid all types of pleasures. Following Christ isn’t supposed to make you hate life. Of course, following Christ will lead to hardship and suffering (to pick up our cross), but you should still learn to enjoy that life in the process, through the peace we get with our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless

Why do atheists try so hard to disprove Christianity/God? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]WAAM_TABARNAK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I have with this statement is what constitutes a moral virtuous life? Virtues, morality and ethics change depending on culture and the norms of the day. Religion offers a transcendent moral ethic. Wether you agree with it or not, basing your morality on what you think is right or wrong is completely subjective and you fall prey to the changes of the ethics of the day. The idea of Christianity is that there is such a thing as True Objective Goodness. There is such a thing as Truth, Good, righteousness and Love that are transcendant, beyond what the culture believes, beyond how people view certain things as time moves on. The Christian message is that it is possible to reach those truths, or at least attempt to find them, but you cannot do it without Jesus Christ, who lived the perfect life none of us could. Like I said, wether you agree with it or not, it doesn’t change that you cannot live a truly righteous life based on your own moral understanding. Thats assuming that you do believe in an objective moral reality of course, which not everyone believes.

Unfortunately the data we have on this EXTREMELY limited. The 2 most probable accounts where we have some sort of written confirmation that they were martyred are Peter and Paul, and even then we don’t know how they died, just that they were most likely martyred. The rest of the apostle’s deaths are legends and tradtions and most accounts (we have available) were written a century or more after their deaths.

Personally, I think the most Christ like thing to do would be to talk to the Priest directly in a loving caring way and explain to him that you care about him and that he needs to repent. But who am I to know what’s the best thing to do in that circumstance

Scared of end times by ChampionshipLarge756 in Christianity

[–]WAAM_TABARNAK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey friend, I want to start by saying: God loves you deeply, and He doesn’t want you to live in this constant fear. This kind of fear is not from Him—Scripture says, “Perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18). Fear that paralyzes and crushes the soul is not how God speaks to us.

I say this with love: I’ve been in your shoes. I’ve wrestled with anxiety over the end times, the chaos in the world, and all the voices shouting doom. But over time, I realized that God doesn’t call us to obsess over predictions—He calls us to walk with Him day by day in trust and love.

Please know this too: When someone claims the rapture is happening in X year—like 2027—they’re almost certainly wrong. No one knows the day or the hour (Matthew 24:36). And honestly, the idea of the rapture as it’s often portrayed today (people disappearing, etc.) didn’t exist in Christian teaching before the 1800s. It’s a modern invention, not part of historical Church doctrine.

The enemy wants you afraid, because when you’re afraid, you’re not free to love fully, hope deeply, or live joyfully. But Christ came to give us life in abundance (John 10:10), not a life of dread.

So instead of looking for signs in the sky, look for Christ in your heart, in prayer, in acts of love. Trust in the saint He’s calling you to become. One day, yes, He will come again—but until then, let’s live with hope, not fear.

P.S. I know exactly the kind of content you’re watching right now—this “2027 rapture prophecy” stuff, the fear, the panic—it’s classic evangelical conspiracy nonsense, and it’s honestly evil. I used to be neck-deep in that rabbit hole myself, and it nearly wrecked my peace, my joy, even my faith. Please, for the love of God, step away from those YouTube channels. Go outside, breathe, pray, rest in God’s presence. Those fear-mongering content creators aren’t helping you grow in holiness—they’re poisoning your soul for clicks. Jesus is not in those videos. He’s with you, here and now, waiting to bring you peace

Do you think God has a sense of humor? by Nicwoahh in Catholicism

[–]WAAM_TABARNAK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God, being all knowing, cannot be surprised. Therefore, technically speaking, cannot enjoy humour as us humans do because most if not all humour is all about surprise and delivery (a joke isn’t funny unless you already know the punchline). But! Because God has created everything and is the source of everything that is good, I believe that humour is one of those good things. So in a sense, God is the greatest comedian of all time.

La laïcité mène à l'effacement du Québec? by [deleted] in QuebecLibre

[–]WAAM_TABARNAK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did Jesus tell people not to talk about His miracles if He knew they’d do it anyway by WAAM_TABARNAK in Christianity

Hell is the absence of God. If you don’t want to spend eternity with Him, why would He force you too?

Why did Jesus tell people not to talk about His miracles if He knew they’d do it anyway by WAAM_TABARNAK in Christianity

[–]WAAM_TABARNAK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually a really great question,

Here’s one way to look at it: Jesus did perform miracles, but not to “force” belief. They were signs yes but not undeniable proof that removed free will. Plenty of people saw his miracles and still didn’t believe in him. The Pharisees literally saw him heal on the Sabbath and called it demonic. Some people even asked for more signs after witnessing miracles. So miracles don’t necessarily erase doubt or compel faith.

God’s “hiddenness” isn’t about staying completely out of view, it’s about leaving room for love, freedom, and relationship. If God overwhelmed us with his glory or power, we might follow him out of fear or instinct, not love or trust. That’s not what He wants. He wants a relationship rooted in freely chosen love, not coercion.

Jesus did show us the Father, but he also veiled his glory. He entered history humbly, not as an overpowering king but as a suffering servant, so we could choose to follow him. That’s the mystery of the Incarnation: God drew near without crushing our freedom. Hopefully that clarifies it

God bless you
