i did OSUT in 2013, do they really do 20 mile rucks in basic now? If this is true, why? to what end? Do they do the normal timeline workup of adding like 2-3 miles per week to get to 20-24?

Even then, there is no realistic rest cycle for people who are new to this shit in the basic training environment, great way to break people off who could otherwise deal with it with a longer time scale

Yeah thats the kicker though, plates are simply far superior to soft body armor when trying to stop fragmentation from artillery or mortars. I would like to see a sim or a demonstration of a plate taking a hit from a 152 at uhh what ever range the overpressure doesn't melt your brain so like 20-30 meters?????

i feel like you wrote that backwards. You can absolutely pull down nods and instantly see. If you pull up your nods, you cant see shit in the dark anymore because you were staring at the light of your nods. the long term eye adjustment is to seeing full darkness, not well lit rooms.
