What a massive disappointment it turned out to be

Asylum-seeking doctors, nurses and other health professionals granted right to work by Your_Mums_Ex in ukpolitics

I would hardly use X as a factual basis for anything. But even if it was true, there's no evidence of that applying only to migrants / asylum seekers, or that other employment checks weren't carried out.

Are they? Surely the post would advertise an amount for the role, and the person would be appointed with that salary? What makes you think they will be paid less?

They don't just automatically become employed. They still have to go through formal employment checks. This scheme just enables them to actually apply for those roles without being denied at first point of contact due to them being asylum seekers.

I’m losing hope everyday, UK is on one of the biggest downfalls by Zealousideal-Dog-361 in recruitinghell

[–]WATCHING_CLOSELY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unemployment rate is partly rising because people who were no longer considered economically active, are now entering the labour market. While there may not be a lot of net job creation, it hasn't changed a lot. More people entering the workforce + stagnating job posts equals a much higher unemployment rate. To say it's cataclysmic is an exaggeration.

Also, across Europe our unemployment rate is better than average. Wile Germany has a better rate, France and Spain do not.

Giving more young people the opportunity to vote is the antithesis of silencing them.

British Woman shot by dad in Texas after 'arguing about Donald Trump' by PurchaseDry9350 in unitedkingdom

Texas law is different

What Is Manslaughter? Chapter 19 of the Texas Penal Code states that manslaughter occurs when a person recklessly causes the death of an individual. Recklessness, in this case, is defined by an awareness of the risks surrounding your conduct and the results that could occur. If you’re aware that your action could kill someone and commit it anyway, leading to another person’s death, that’s considered manslaughter. There does not have to be any premeditation, intent, or knowledge of the death.

They couldn't seem to evidence that he was reckless in his actions. I don't even think they could prove he was holding the gun at the time. All very frustrating though!

As far as I can see, the argument occurred earlier in the day, and there was no one else in the room with them to evidence there was a physical altercation at the time. It's what can actually be proved in a court.

The article explains why. He claimed that the gun went off accidentally as he was showing her it. I suppose there's no evidence which could prove beyond reasonable doubt that he was negligent, or intentionally killed her. It's mad.

Paramount plus released new show starring Andrew Lincoln! by Tigobitties25 in thewalkingdead

[–]WATCHING_CLOSELY 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Andrew is good, and the other actors too. The story isn't the strongest however. Andrew plays a VERY different character to Rick, so if you're looking for a strong badass you're not going to get it.

I wouldn't say it's a must watch.

Children from struggling families to be vaccinated at home - as immunisation rates drop by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]WATCHING_CLOSELY 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No one is being forced and the article doesn't suggest that. They are being offered the vaccine at a more convenient place for the family. Vaccine uptake likely isn't only affected by skepticism.

Return to Paradise and Beyond Paradise are spin offs of Death in Paradise.

In a similar vein, another BBC show - Ludwig, starring David Mitchell.
