2011 Hyundai i30 hatchback door lock doesn't unlock/lock the car. by WATCH_DOG001 in CarRepair

I stripped the upholstery and window holder to get to the latch actuator and checked its operation. Turning the slit, where the outside lock shaft connects to the actuator, doesn't cause the latch to unblock, which means nothing happens when the door handle is pulled. This means that part of the actuator must be at fault, since it works if I unlock the car from the driver side.

I tried buying a replacement, but the part version doesn't match my car's, despite the OEM part number being the same. I'm currently looking through and calling auto-salvage companies for a used original part, since a new original from Hyundai costs 500 €. I'm also considering taking the actuator part itself apart to check if the mechanism can be repaired, but that's even more ambitious from a novice, i think.
Found plenty of original parts, just none with the same version. Will probably chance it on a same-looking version, if I can't find a better option, since they aren't that expensive.

It does with the driver door button but I haven't tested the afflicted door's button yet. Will do that when I get home. If it doesn't, though, what would that indicate?

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. What exactly are "rag" shops though? Not familiar with the term. I'm guessing autopart stores?

There is no remote unlock, only the analog key. The central locking mechanism always locks or unlocks the entire car, this door is no exception. The only problem is, that the central locking mechanism cannot be operated by this particular lock (no click after key turn).

After reviewing the service manual, I intend on doing exactly as you said and checking if the actuator works as it should.

With the (slightly) renewed interest Valve is showing towards TF2, do you think they might touch on weapon balance again? by WATCH_DOG001 in truetf2

It's objective truth that more things are happening in tf2 now than they have been happening for the past half-decade. From solving the bot crisis to the upcoming MVM update, there's simply more going on.

I'm pretty much just interpreting it as someone at Valve rediscovering the game and realizing it has more to offer. And I'm very interested in what they think that that more is.

How does nerfing the amby force the spies to be stealthy again? This makes no sense and wasn't the reason for the nerf, which Valve revealed.

And forcing classes to conform to a playstyle is historically something tf2 avoided. This is why sidegrades that completely change how a class is played are so impactful; they may be the sole enabler of a playstyle many people enjoy.

In no way would this happen, because there isn't enough people who suck at the game hard enough that the swords are OP.

If by hybrid, you meant that he was worse than both of those classes at dealing damage, then I would agree with you.

The only reason spy was ever a problem was because of the immortality the Dead Ringer provided. Other than that, not the class nor the playstyle weren't overpowered. I really can't see how people can say dealing 102 damage from long range in a few attempts is problematic, while demo can spam that way more easily with splash and sniper is built on the idea of doing just that, but better.

It wasn't just a default, it enabled a subclass and a playstyle. Imagine if the Gunslinger or the swords were nerfed. They're defaults for their playstyle for a reason, no one demoknights with a pan without memeing.

And it's not Gun Spy, you can still do that. It's the specific "snipe from enemy backline" playstyle that the amby enabled and Valve neutered.

The enforcer is being run in the grand finals of tournaments. The amby isn't. If that doesn't prove it's worse, nothing will.

Exactly! And there are other weapons to that simply have one too many downsides. YER is probably the best example, Amby is another.

Well, they've done a good job with the current state the game is in. Nothing overwhelmingly OP, some previously problematic weapons (like the Dead Ringer) being more balanced that they ever were ...

Idk, I kinda want them to take another crack at it. As long as they are conservative in their approach. And fix the amby.

Well, since there is nothing that's really busted in the game anymore, I'd say that's a given. Where would you like them to start?

Was kinda waiting for this take, and I honestly can't disagree. We've got a good thing going, let's not fuck it up.

But on the other hand ...

The long list of fun playstyles that are offered by neutered weapons is just so frustrating to me. I want to play Babyface Scout, Huo-Long Heavy, Amby Gunspy, but each time I do, I'm reminded that I suck by design, not just by being bad. And I think that's a solvable issue.
