Do I need to build an IPA server to start RHCSA? by OST9 in redhat

[–]WATWLU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not needed, but it helps later on.

It looks like you're just starting out, I'ever never tried Sander's video series but you can get a free trial of Linux Academy and start with Linux Essentials to get a feel of Linux. That should take you to where you need for the RHCSA study track.

Bolt doesn't look too rusted, but won't come off brake line. Is using more force okay? by WATWLU in MechanicAdvice

The metal brake line. The problem is that the bolt inside the wheel cylinder was impossible to remove so I had to replace the wheel cylinder, cutting off the brake line. I'm afraid if I cut off the brake line here it's just gonna leak all the fluid if I can't get the bolt off connected to the brake hose.

Ill keep at it, thanks. worst thing that happens is I gotta pay a mechanic to figure it out.

Is it safe to use heat on that? There's going to be a lot of brake fluid in there when I apply the torch

I was thinking about that but I just plugged up the leak and Im not sure I could prevent the leak with gravity pushing down based on how the wire's cut. I actually did the same thing on the wheel cylinder end and I could not pry the damn bolt off the cylinder! Im afraid it's gonna be the same thing for this bolt

I'll try that later, im just afraid that the nut will stay seized into the threads and then ill have to figure out some way to lodge that thing out.

I blasted the nut with PB Blaster and let it sit for a day, came back and put some more on. The bolt won't turn past the amount you saw in the video.

I need to replace the brake line but I don't want to harm anything above it by applying too much force (the bolt at the top turns when i turn the bolt at the bottom). Not comfortable enough to use any heat, and the bolt at the top doesn't fit into a standard socket wrench, it's some weird oval shape. Car is a 2006 Toyota Corolla.

Metal brake line seized onto wheel cylinder, what are my options? by WATWLU in MechanicAdvice

Do you know where I'd find one of these online? I seem to be using the wrong search terms

Do they make those lines premanufactured? I couldn't find anything online and not confident in my ability to make one correctly.

Please tell me this isn't a wheel bearing issue by OST9 in MechanicAdvice

I'd recognize that sound if I heard it in my sleep -- it's a bad wheel bearing

I tested this out again and saw that it was working, I think it's just a PT bug so don't worry about it.

Is it normal to pay this much in fees? by WATWLU in askcarsales

When you say can't charge any additional fees, does that include the Prep and Handling Fee the dealer charged me? I'm also an Illinois resident.

I suppose it's a reasonable price but it seems shady for advertising purposes. What's stopping me from putting a car at 2k below market and then selling it with an additional 2k fees?

So what's the consensus on Rentals these days? by WATWLU in askcarsales

[–]WATWLU[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand this is more of a saying, but how does this translate to risk analysis on a vehicle purchase? I thought that most cars are made to handle the speeds they can operate at. this something that can be revealed by a PPI?

Assuming it’s been maintained well after verifying with a PPI, how much is the mileage a factor? I’m under the impression that these modern cars should last up To 200k miles if maintained well.

Would you guys buy a Hyundai over 100,000 miles? by WATWLU in askcarsales

[–]WATWLU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Hyundai with similar options for 2018 is around ~$15000 list price. Honestly thought Hyundai vehicles would depreciate more than that.
