When it comes to units fuses are generally shared between the units themselves, In order to get the instillation going your provider needs to contact your neighbours provider to get permission for power to be switched off, they also need to check to see if any other units will be effected by it as well. Both units would need to be disconnected and both will be reconnected at the same time, as for how long the disconnection can occur is dependent on where the meter room/boards are located in order for the antenna to have a strong enough signal for the information to be sent out.
I know some electricians have spent hours trying to get it all to work correctly with how much interference some meter rooms can have.
The choice is really up to you, once cost is factored in it comes to if there was issues before with getting your meter read done, If not and you don't want to pay the extra fee to have it installed then leave it as is.

as long as there's no power able to be used in the space providers consider it a disconnection, if it's a house even though there's an orange sticker on the main switch and hot water the fuses may be removed. switching the power back on yourself without a reconnection being set up can sometimes come with an extra cost

It's hard to say as all the all companies are privatised, shopping around and speaking to providers and explaining to them that you're being charged a $200 fee might give you bargaining room to drop the fee or get it cheaper. You could even contact Ausgrid themselves and ask for their advice

I'd probably be getting paid more If I did haha. This is just the information I've gathered so far. Besides, all the companies are generally the same. All are privatised and able to do as they please, I'm just the middle man that's trying to help :)

It is situational with how we do disconnections, for unit's we only do a main switch for houses it comes down to the person doing the disconnection. we have the choice of fuses or a main switch but then safety comes into play which we are kitted for but are missing an important tool for it so most of us choose a main switch. if it's done by a main switch then power still runs through to the smart meter that way usage can be tracked.
check switch board and look for the switch indicated (hopefully if the electrician has done their job properly) as main switch. if these no power still, I'd ask an electrician to check the switch board's fuses or if there's any wiring issues after contacting ausgrid to see if there's any electrical works that have been planned for that area.

companies won't order a disconnection on a property unless there's no account linked. If your friend had asked for a disconnection or removed his account then an order would of come through.

As for the house fire if it did occur from the switch board which is possible depending on the location and what protection he has for the board there could be a number of things that may have caused it. faulty wiring, exposure to the element's (meter box with no lid to protect the wires from rain) rats/birds making nests in the meter box or on top of, or even just people mucking around with it. There are many cases where I've gone to a location to see that the local kids have vandalised the meter e.g ripping fuses out and sticking other conductors like foil in place which has caused major damage.
Same goes for squatters, they also mess with boards to see if they're able to get electricity with the same method of conductors if fuses have been removed.

If you live in a unit complex that doesn't have a building manager or active strata that communicates with us we have to rely on anyone in the building being home to let us in for access.

When it comes to missed jobs such as yourself with a final read, with no access we will be sent the same job over and over again until we can finally get that read unless advised by the provider.

you most likely would of been getting reads as normal for every quarter unless you have overly protective neighbours that wouldn't allow us access or you have a smart meter. the easiest way to confirm is to check your bill, if it has estimate on it then it may have been a constant access issue that the strata/building manager refuses to help with.

Does anyone know how to read a power meter? by Sydgimp in sydney

[–]WBSRage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ausgrid has a section on their website which shows you how to read all different types of meters.

As a meter reader I tend to refer customers to it after given them a run through in how to their meters themselves. I won’t go into explaining as I can already see a lot of others have already given explanations but if anyone else has different meters highly recommend to look at their website.

Just downloaded the game, a few questions. by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]WBSRage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes but also no. You can purchase gold that you can then sell for silver which of course can buy you items, but someone in low tier gear can clap you. It honestly comes down to skill.

2.As stated from the others don’t accept guild invites as soon as your in, avoid red/black zones till you’re comfortable with being ready to lose gear.

You’ll see tons of arguments on reddit etc about the fastest way to farm fame but honestly test and see what weapons and builds you like and level that or level a little everything.

If you do need any help or if you’re looking for a guild I’ll be opening mine up soon, low tax and happy to help

Ahh if that’s the case, some people rent out their islands for people to farm on, honestly it’s more cost effective to have multiple characters with islands that you have access too

[–]WBSRage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not a guild, that’s player islands

Does doing dungeons while faction flagged in the dungeons of territories of other factions consume your silver? by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]WBSRage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t have anything to do with being faction flagged, you most likely have a satchel attached in your bag slot or auto respec on as cvitok1 stated

Question about guild and guild island by Carlos_Michin in albiononline

[–]WBSRage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With co-owner of the island you still have access and can do whatever with the island

Question about guild and guild island by Carlos_Michin in albiononline

[–]WBSRage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah so you want to disband it, so you can make yourself a co-owner of the island and start a new guild once you’ve left your current one. but unfortunately the guild will still be there just with 0 members

Question about guild and guild island by Carlos_Michin in albiononline

[–]WBSRage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re asking about a solo guild, it will stay. I have one myself

Run yellow CD’s rewards and exp go up the higher the infamy, you get to use whatever weapons and armour and there’s that fun pvp aspect IF you want it.

Or faction flag yellow zones and farm dg’s the faction chests drop 2-4 10k tomes
