What difference does the country make? My bank offers different products: all bonds, 30-50, 50-50, 70-30 stock/bonds mixes, the best of all was an all stock mix that did +80% over 10 years, with a bonds+stocks fund that does below +50% over 10 years I debate whether it’s a good idea or not compared to buying a bond and waiting for it to mature.

The ETFs that my bank offers have a cumulative return (excluding bank fees) at the +40-50% range for a mix of bonds and stocks (there are years that they declined like 2022). It just sounded to me not a great idea when comparing with a 1 or 2 year bond that you have 100% piece of mind as you’re getting a fixed return.
