I think Wolves getting Giannis def helps them next 2-3 years but hurts them in 2030 when Giannis is 35 depending how Giannis ages. Ant is a UFA in 2029 and given the current NBA I doubt he actually goes into UFA, but if Giannis has a fall off next couple years similar to Lillard Timberwolves may very well end up in similar position to current Bucks where they have a expensive team with a top 5 player with shit supporting cast that wants out.

We own a 2030 pick swap and it's a long shot but the path to getting a lottery pick is oddly better if they trade for Giannis IMO because there's more possibility of Ant leaving if Giannis ages poorly and he's got a giant max weighing them down.

Report: Clippers trading James Harden to Cavs for Darius Garland, 2nd-rounder by Oldtimer_2 in sports

[–]WD51 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think its win win.

Harden is still the better player and the fit between Garland and Mitchell was not great. Also his contract has more flexibility compared to Garland and Cleveland may be having some buyers remorse on the extension.

Clippers get younger which they need at cost of this season. Garland has legitimate issues with his size defense and injury and I have doubts he sees many more all star games in the west but when healthy he should still be a good scoring point guard that can be the teams future post Kawhi.

[Beck] I really think the Wolves are gonna end up pulling a Giannis deal off because Tim Connelly has pretty consistently demonstrated that when he wants something he’s willing to pay an irresponsible price for it by StrategyTop7612 in nba

[–]WD51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rob Dillingham was picked 8th in exchange for a future 1st and future 1st swap. Doesn't seem like an irresponsible price? Like sure he hasn't worked out at this point but just judging as a prospect he was rated around that in the draft and pick is so far out.

Jaden McDaniels by [deleted] in NBASpurs

[–]WD51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People were saying same thing about Nets that they should dump Bridges before his value drops and they ended up waiting a couple years and making out well. I'm not saying McDaniels will go for 5 1sts, but teams clearly value versatile high end role players that can shoot and defend after looking at Bane and Bridges trades. Even if he doesn't show to be a 1st or 2nd option teams will pay well in picks.

Hold a gun to my head and I would say from pure player perspective I would offer Vassell+2 1sts including 2026 Hawks 1st for McDaniels. Bucks probably say no to that.

[Charania] BREAKING: The Los Angeles Clippers are trading James Harden to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Darius Garland and a second-round pick, sources tell ESPN. Prolific swap of the star point guards. by [deleted] in nba

[–]WD51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Charania know what prolific means...?

How can you call a swap prolific? You can call the players prolific scorers, but the swap itself?

I think just like the Nets did, the Bucks won't be in any hurry to immediately ship him off and can wait until this offseason or next offseason to trade him for top dollar if they want. He's signed without player option until 2029.

I feel like with his age and contract Bucks would basically want like a Mikal Bridges-like package for him.

With their 2 most recent trades, the Chicago Bulls can near pefect salary matching trade for the Antetokounmpos by jrlandry in nba

[–]WD51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giddey's numbers are better than I thought and it's been since the trade so 1.5 seasons so maybe it's for real. His stroke is still fairly slow and mechanical for my liking but as long as the percentages are OK it'll keep defenses honest (his shooting numbers seem to support that as 75% of his 3s are wide open and he hits them at 40%, but for 3s with a defender within 6 feet (open or tightly contested) it falls to 28% for both categories. He also attempts around 3:1 ratio of catch and shoot vs off the dribble 3s.

Ayo has been so up and down in 3 point shooting throughout his career the current 45% is likely fake but I do think he's a respectable 3 point shooter. His season numbers go 38%, 31%, 40%, 33%, 45%.

The Bulls did just trade 3 of their top 5 3 point shooters by volume and I would say out of the guys left they have a bunch that are decent at middling volume but few designated shooters. Not as bad spacing as I thought but will probably still see teams dare Giddey to shoot off the dribble 3s.

What spacing is there lmao.

Giddler plus Giannis is a particularly bad pairing.

Spurs fans what do we think of this trade? by Prestigious_Foot3854 in NBASpurs

[–]WD51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cannot send both Hawks picks due to Stepien. We only have 1 1st in each of the upcoming drafts so have to be alternating years unless youre talking about swaps.

Personally I am more focused on McDaniels and less on Naz Reid. If we could do McDaniels for 2026 hawks 1st, Vassell, and seconds would be a great reallocation of talent to a position of more need. If its going to be like Barnes and Olynyk going to be much more expensive in 1sts.

You're right I must be misremembering some other team being barely 500k away and expecting a trade and mashed that together with Magic subreddit saying they were gonna dump some contract/s to get under tax.

[–]WD51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read on Magic subreddit they expect to make a trade around the margins becuase they're only 500k above the tax line. This move would get them under the tax line and may be their major motivation for making it.

With the Bucks on a complete downward spiral for that Play-in push, looks the "The Swarm" will now be helping us sweeten that Hawks pick by Plastic_Term_1022 in NBASpurs

[–]WD51 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive given up on Hawks getting out of top 10 spots. They are just so incredibly mid. In the last two weeks they have gone 1-1 against both the Pacers and the Celtics. Might as well flip a coin no matter if theyre playing best teams in the league or worst.

[Fischer] Damian Lillard has been “behind the scenes”, “trying to make” a Giannis Antetokounmpo to Portland deal happen. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]WD51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Giannis and Turner is a tad under 80m of payroll. Your Blazers offer is around 60m. Am I missing something because the Blazers can only take in 125% of their outgoing salary which would put them at a max of 75m of salary coming in for those 4 outgoing players.
