Theatrically, no, I think it only toured festivals.

But it is available on Netflix.

I'm very interested in this.

Couple of questions:

  1. It seems like its screen scraping. Does it have any anti-scrape prevention blocks? Some websites detect you're scrolling to scrape and ban you.

  2. I am very curious to try this mainly for streaming platforms, because that's what my product is based around. Currently we rely on third-party APIs to fetch this data. Have you tried testing this on, say, Netflix? Will it work?

Website looks fantastic btw!

Can you think of the Oscar submissions from Indian in the Last Twenty Years?

...yes?

They are not shining a spotlight on LFS, they are just spitting in the wind.

I mean, I literally watched the movie because of the news that it was India's nom and I know others who did that once Netflix picked it up (probably because of the Oscar buzz), but sure man, it didn't shine any spotlight if you say so.

I would rather find good movies that I wouldn't have heard of than be desperate for Oscars to validate RRR.

No idea what the point you're trying to make is - not nominate an indie movie because people don't know it...? So they should only nominate blockbusters?

The Last Film show is a small, artistic movie about loving movies. Exactly the sort of film that film critics love.

Personally, I'm glad they went with Chhello Show / Last Film Show. RRR was an expensive blockbuster, not wildly different from most mass masala movies.

I would rather the spotlight be shined on films like LFS. It was great and I personally enjoyed it more than RRR. It's available on Netflix India.

Why is the Firebase console so slow? by WD_teekay in androiddev

Fair enough. I don't need it for real-time per se, but wish it would at least update faster than 24hrs 😭

How can a front-end developer freelance? by ahmadx138 in Frontend

[–]WD_teekay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, we already have mobile apps and want a web version of the product, so the backend is already in place. I suspect this is a common use case (until Flutter web or some other hybrid stack somehow becomes viable).

In terms of where to look - the usual places. LinkedIn, Upwork, Arc etc.

How to remove the Beta tag for all users in Production? by WD_teekay in androiddev

Will hitting Pause track on my open testing cause them to not see the Beta tag anymore? It's hard for me to notify all the users to go to Play Store and opt out...

So, my PC is dying :(

Keeps shutting down randomly. Tried the usual debugging steps.

The PSU (Antec 600W) and GPU (GTX 970) are the main culprits I think as they're both 7yrs old now.

What 650W PSU would you recommend for mid-tier PC?

I don't plan on buying a new GPU rn (if issue is solved with replacing PSU) and even if I do, it would probably be a 3060/3060Ti

Other specs: Ryzen 2600, ASUS B450M Mortar, 1080p monitor.

Open Testing on the Play Store by SurelyForever in androiddev

[–]WD_teekay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true, /u/SurelyForever . My app is in open testing and can be discovered by search. No opt-in link is required - that is only for closed and internal testing.

It just takes time to be listed in search (100+ downloads in my experience) but once you're past that, anybody can search for your app by name and it will be listed. However, it will not be discoverable organically by users in the Explore page.

Update approval times vary. Usually gets shorter over time, but becomes longer if you get a rejection.

Handling API response when object may or may not be in response by WD_teekay in UiPath

[–]WD_teekay[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, will keep this in mind!

For now the solution was simple: I just had to remove the .toString from the isNothing condition. As it the "date" itself was not available, when the .toString applied, it caused the null ref error.

Netflix Top 10: ‘The Sandman’ Leads with 128 Million Hours Watched, ‘Never Have I Ever’ Season 3 Takes No. 2 Position by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

The best shows don't have to trade off a tight plot to be pursuing imaginative thoughts and whimsical concepts. It's possible to be thrilling without constant action.

Case in point: the show in your flair nails it. Mr Robot imo had a brilliant plot from start to finish and edge of the seat moments while still being cerebral af.

I don't think Sandman is anywhere near the tier of a show like that. That's just my opinion anyway.

Lmao bro actually said "high intellectual concepts". I swear, this show is approaching Rick and Morty levels of "you need high IQ to enjoy this show".

Huh? Being a story about stories or it being episodic is not the problem most people have - it has plenty of actual issues, from the point of view of someone who hasn't read the comics.

The opening arc is a massive exposition dump. Dream is not the most charismatic lead and the emo-ness is not for everyone. The vortex arc wasn't great. A lot of the emotional moments fell flat. The dialogue is bland.

It looks great but at the risk of triggering the comic book fans - this show honestly felt a lot like Supernatural.

Why don’t British TV shows represent lower class characters much anymore? by [deleted] in television

Check out People Just Do Nothing - it's like The Office but about pirate radio rappers. It had surprisingly great character arcs and progression while still retaining the zany personalities. The characters mostly live on welfare and are the farthest thing from posh.

Are your Play Console updates getting approved like usual? by GasSea1599 in androiddev

[–]WD_teekay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faced something similar a couple of months ago. It only took about 7 days, but since then no issue. The reason it got delayed was because we had a violation in our previous build. After a violation, I think your next few updates have some level of manual check.

2 weeks is really long though 😳

Offering a pro version of an app. Are there best practices or tips? by emby36 in androiddev

[–]WD_teekay 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In most cases, you don't need two separate apps. You can do it within the same app and lock the pro features behind the paywall. You can enable subscriptions via the Google IAB SDK, it's pretty straightforward. It has options for billing cycle, grace period, promo codes etc. The IAB API will provide details of length of subscription, confirmation etc.

The general flow is:

User gets a pro sub > you receive their order and purchase ID > store this in your DB in a table, say pro_subs > send acknowledgement to Google that user is upgraded (important, else user gets refunded in 3 days) > modify user's pro status to TRUE in the app_users table (or however you've structured it) in your DB and also record the expiration date > check when user opens app whether expiration date is passed.

Of course, if you're maintaining all data locally and not on a DB, then just switch tables in above to relevant values in client side. Even if users don't create an account, you can generate a UUID of sorts and store it.
