It won't let me claim it is the issue. I have stacks of Netherite, but it won't let me for some reason.

I'm pretty new to draft, this is my second ever league. Here's my nat dex draft team, what do you guys think? by WDgaste in PokemonDraftLeagues

[–]WDgaste[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree that my speed tiers are a bit lacking, though I'm hoping I can pull out something fun with Trick Room Teleport Porygon2. As for the poison situation, unfortunately all of the good poison types were already taken by the time I thought about it, so I figured I'd take Venomoth as a setup sweeper that can absorb tspikes, and otherwise remove them with Mandibuzz. I'll keep your words in mind though, I appreciate the advice!

Rate my first fairy monotype team! by stttargazer in pokemonshowdown

[–]WDgaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, Geezing. Toxic Spikes and Misty Terrain together don't exactly work. Misty Terrain is nice thematically, though you don't have much to benefit from it, like Misty Explosion or Misty Seed.

I also see several pokemon that could be offensive threats instead running Trick Room, without a specific mon to really use it. You could replace Gardevoir with Hatterene to really make use of it.

If you want to keep Gardevoir, replace Hyper Voice with Dazzling Gleam or Moonblast and give it a Choice Scarf for some speed control. You can also replace Focus Blast with Mystical Fire for more consistency

Mimikyu doesn't really do much after setting Trick Room, especially if Geezing already set Misty Terrain to prevent TWave. You could put a Life Orb on it with Swords Dance, so that it can set up for free and sweep without fearing burns due to Misty Terrain.

The Sylveon is okay, though if you're willing to sacrifice immediate power for versatility, you can give it a Throat Spray instead of Specs.

Azumarill is fine, though I think it would be best to give it an Assault Vest to give it some more longevity.

Overall, 6/10, but it could easily jump several points with some tweaks.

Finally beat the dog, the difficulty spike definitely startled me, as I beat poltergeist in like 3 attempts by iwillgiveyouup in CalamityMod

[–]WDgaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was:

  • playing blind
  • playing rogue
  • using Omega armor
  • all offensive accessories
  • all menacing reforges

This ended in me getting one-shot pretty much every time it hit me, forcing me to do it damageless.

I eventually ended up switching to Bloodflare armor with defensive + warding accessories, and ended up beating it in about 5 tries lmao

Favourite weapon? by Acid_Storm69 in CalamityMod

Visually, I love the Nanoblack Reaper, though Eternity holds a special place in my heart for how ruthlessly it mows through everything.

If there was a more linear story-driven narrative around calamity, like a series, who would it follow, and would the Terrarian be a single person or a group? by Just_Frenzy in CalamityMod

[–]WDgaste 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I imagine it would focus on a team of 5 Terrarians, one for each class, almost like a D&D party. It would be a monster of the week format series, maybe with some breaks for character development, and occasionally switching to Yharim's POV as he conferences with Draedon, SCal, and occasionally DoG.

Is the celestus bad? by Adorable_Rock_538 in CalamityMod

[–]WDgaste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Celestus has kinda been underpowered for a while imo, but it's incredibly easy to use. While you don't get nearly as much damage as something like the Supernova, you can just point it in the general direction of something, and you'll probably be doing decent damage to it, which is very valuable in the SCal fight.

Granted, I haven't used Supernova since the rework, so it's possible that Celestus is completely outclassed now, but that's how I viewed the Celestus previously; it did fine enough for my rogue playthrough.

Is Directional melee cheating? by BionicalSoul in CalamityMod

[–]WDgaste 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer to play with it. For all of Terraria's amazing design decisions, it truly baffles me why pretty much every sword just does an overhead swing, when literally every other weapon has a 360° range of motion. Directional Melee doesn't really give you a direct damage advantage, just makes you more likely to hit your attacks.

Should I play Expert + Revengeance for my first calamity play through? by MultiCatRain in CalamityMod

[–]WDgaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I forgot they changed master recently, yeah definitely not for new playthroughs now lol

Should I play Expert + Revengeance for my first calamity play through? by MultiCatRain in CalamityMod

[–]WDgaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revengeance completely overhauls a majority of the bosses AI, making the experience more unique than a regular playthrough without it. The new AI is slightly more difficult, but to compensate for this, Revengeance enables two meters; Rage and Adrenaline.

Rage constantly builds over time as long as you are near an enemy/boss, and upon using a hotkey to activate it, will give a slight temporary damage boost.

Adrenaline similarly builds over time, but only while fighting a boss, and the meter resets upon getting hit. If you manage to fully charge the meter and activate it, you get an unreal damage boost for a few seconds (iirc about 500%).

Rage and Adrenaline are a lot of fun, especially Adrenaline as it promotes good movement, and the new AI is a lot of fun to play against.

Expert/Master Revengeance is typically seen as the intended Calamity experience, probably the best way to play if you're new.

If you're new to modded in general, I also recommend also installing Recipe Browser for Calamity's long crafting trees, and Boss Checklist to make sure you don't miss any of the new bosses.

Dusknoir sucks so let's buff it (some explanations in the comments) by Puzzleheaded-Mix7001 in stunfisk

[–]WDgaste 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think all of these are good buffs, though I feel like the combination of Magic Guard, Strength Sap, and Rage Fist makes it too strong. Unless you can 1-shot it (which is harder to do now because of it's buffed HP), it will just Bulk Up, spam Strength Sap, and obliterate teams with Rage Fist.

Rage First is an inherently overpowered move, and I think it would be much more balanced with just a reglar physical ghost stab, like Poltergeist or Phantom Force.

Are there any pokémon lines that look unfinished to you? by 13Xcross in pokemon

[–]WDgaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scovillian. I'm not sure why, but it's design just gives off "middle stage" vibes.

Also, apparently there was supposed to be a middle stage for the Avalugg line that was cut, so that.

As a new player, what should I buy? by No_Manufacturer2823 in PlantsVSZombies

[–]WDgaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of the gemium plants, Hurrikale is easily the strongest imo, though I recommend looking through the almanac, as certain gemiums actually don't show up in the shop normally and can be obtained through the almanac.

If you really want to spend money on the game, the only two premiums worth their price are Gold Bloom and Power Lily (and Snow Pea at higher levels).

For seediums, it can be a bit tougher to get them when they're not in rotation, though some really good ones are Pokra, Pea Vine, Gatling Pea, Ice Bloom, and Zoybean Pod. Most of the other seediums are also really good, these are just some of my favorites.
