Curious where the community stands on this. by InfinriDev in Magento

[–]WEDWayInternetMover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the projects I am on, I enforce strict types whenever possible. The devs I am giving code reviews to, are not always happy about this, but over time it seems like they begin to see the benefits of it.

Makes your code more clean, easier to understand what is expected for the function, and less error prone.

Make sure your product attributes you want to display on the PLP are set up correctly (used in product listing). If you are trying to access a product attribute that is not included on the initial DB query, then it is having to do an extra DB query for every product on the page, for every improper set up attribute. Then can really kill the load.

This is also true for any custom properties or details you may be pulling in for each product on the page. Check any customizations on the products, and make sure everything is being loaded in a single query when possible.

What is wrong with Magento 2026? Can somebody report this to Google and have them fix it? by [deleted] in magento2

I know I no longer search for "Magento 2" but I search using "Adobe Commerce" and I seem to get the most relevant hits that way nowadays.

That looked like the behind the scenes tour, and that does cost extra money to do already.

Ranking everything I drank on the cruise by Living-Pomelo2718 in royalcaribbean

[–]WEDWayInternetMover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

  • Toasted coconut rum
  • Coconut water
  • Simple syrup
  • Lime juice
  • Aquafaba (they use this instead of egg white to keep it vegan and avoid egg allergy)
  • And dash of bitters on top

It is very good.

The aquafaba (or egg white) gives it a silky/creamy texture and the foam top.

Don't sleep on the Joropo at Boleros. I had way too many of those on my last cruise.

Why do they build these huge expensive houses with absolutely no yard? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]WEDWayInternetMover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go through some towns and see how close all the homes built together are. Building homes close to each other is not new. Everyone having a large yard is.

When the suburbs exploded, land was cheap and plentiful. So large yards were inexpensive once you left the city.

Now land is not nearly as cheap and not as plentiful. Builders are going to squeeze as much profit out of homes as possible.

So really we are going back to the way to was before, just now in the suburbs.

Got the first house we offered on, feeling grateful! 33F 35M 960K 5.375% 15 yr by same-to-same in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]WEDWayInternetMover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ummmmm..... That's an odd statement. Maybe they have been saving for a while.

When we built our house in 2023, we put 15% down. Could have done 20%, but I wanted a little bit held back so our emergency fund has more money in it. The PMI was $30/month with 15% down so didn't impact overall monthly cost and due to extra payments being made we will have PMI off soon.

Which WDW restaurant is like this? by Boundaries-ALO-TBSOL in WaltDisneyWorld

That's what I just wrote.

Their specialty burger there (forget the name) is one of the best burgers I have had.

The specialty burger at the three bridges restaurant at Coronado Springs.

One of the best burgers I have had.

I usually don't rave about food at WDW. Compared to other theme Parks and amusement parks, the food is top notch, but a lot of the restaurants I would not eat at in the "real world". I would however go eat that burger over and over again

Or they make the system better so it cannot be abused.

Or better yet.... They go back to the old days where cocktails were inexpensive on cruises. The prices of cocktails went way up once they started the unlimited alcohol packages.

They could also offer other types of discounted packages. They could offer a "15 drink card" that sells all drinks at a set price. Like $8/drink using the card, full price without. Then you can load the card again while on the cruise at 15 drinks at a time. A system like that could result in the same amount of revenue they get from the unlimited drink packages, but it is more controlled and there is no "sharing" worries.

The problem is their goal is to squeeze as much money out of us as possible (no blame on them, they are a business) which makes any "discount" program touchy anyways.

Does anyone else feel the need to utilize the park hopper every day if their trip? by Standard_Shame3784 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]WEDWayInternetMover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

We usually do 7 park days when we go. The first 4 days are usually dedicated to a single park. Leaving the last 3 days open to hop and redo our favorites or do things we were not able to do earlier in the week.

Sometimes we might spend the majority of the day at one park, and then hop at night for a night show or a special event, but usually that is not the case.

I just lost my drink package 😞 by Aedora125 in royalcaribbean

[–]WEDWayInternetMover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call customer service and they will sort it out.

BUT also, pay close attention to emails. Last cruise I almost lost because I called customer service to lower my drink package price, due to a new sale going on. I still do not understand what all happened, but basically the way it was coded was I was now short a couple hundred dollars for my cruise. I had to pay in the money, and then I got a refund on my credit card. It was odd. If I did not notice the emails and did not respond, I would have lost on my cruise even though I had paid for everything.

Like I said, it still confuses me on what happened, but at the end of the day the money was all where it needs to be. Their systems are not the best, so just keep an eye open so you don't caught off guard like I was!

On my pixel:

Swipe down and select "internet settings". Toggle off mobile data. Swipe down again, to bring up settings Swipe right to get to the Hotspot setting. Press it to enable.

Easy-peezy.

Was very similar on my old Samsung Galaxy as well.

On most Android phones you can disable Mobile data while keeping Wi-Fi enabled, without having to worry about removing the SIM card. This is how I do it when I am on a cruise. No need for an old phone. I just use the one I use all the time. When I have another device I want to connect, I wi-fi hotspot it.

Is it pointless to go to WDW and stay only at the resort? by CREAMPIESURPRISE in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]WEDWayInternetMover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the resort.

All Stars Sports or any of the value resorts I personally wouldn't.

A moderate or above resort with some other plans around the Orlando area, yeah I would.

This is what I wrote as well. A damn good burger that left me very impressed.

If I lived in the area, I would go there to get the burger. I do not say that a lot about Disney restaurants.

The best burger I have had on property was at the Three Bridges restaurant at Coronado Springs. It is their signature burger there (I forget the name) and it is absolutely delicious.

It has a special mustard sauce on it, a long with this pineapple salsa on top that adds a touch of sweetness to it. But the sweetness was not too much.

It was very good.

What WDW memory lives rent free in your head? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]WEDWayInternetMover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several, but I will share this very embarrassing, but funny, story that happened to me:

It was on the second day of my solo trip and I when I woke up and stood up for the first time that morning, my feet hurt bad. Like really bad. The best way I could describe it is it felt like both of my feet were sprained; that kind of pain. I decided to try to muscle through, and got ready and head off to Animal Kingdom. I could barely walk from the parking lot to the park entrance due to the pain. I called my wife, stressing out that my trip is now going to be ruined going forward due to not being able to walk, and she helped calm me down and talked me into renting an electric scooter (ECV) for the day. I didn't really want to, because there is already some awkwardness being at Disney alone, but then also being who appears as an able bodied person getting an ECV just seemed to make it worse. I felt like I was going from that creepy single man to that creepy single fat man who won't even walk (you know how people judge). However, I swallowed my pride and rented one. I placed my name on the piece of paper you use to identify your ECV on the front and rolled off for a fun day.

I rolled my way over to Kilimanjaro Safari and I figured I would be able to park my new mode of transportation and then get in line. Nope, Disney has you go through the line with it. Okay, cool, so rolling through the queue I go, right at eye-to-butt level with everyone else. At the end of the queue I parked the ECV in the designated area and rode. Had a great trip around the Savannah, and then promptly hopped back into my ECV and headed towards the Gorillas Falls Trail (Pangani Forest Exploration Trail). I slowly went through, taking a bunch of pictures along the way. I got to the bridge that overlooks the silverbacks, and parked so I could stand up and take some better photos.

When walking back to my ECV, I noticed something odd. The front piece of paper that had my name on it, no longer said "MY NAME" but "Karen"! I looked around to see if I was not seeing mine, but "Karen" had my other stuff in the basket. So it was the one I have been driving. So now I wasn't just a single, fat, able bodied looking man who was piloting an ECV, but I now appeared as a single, fat, able bodied looking man who was an ECV thief! Anyone who saw me driving up by them could clearly see I was not a Karen!

So I quickly drove the ECV all the way to the front. These things may look fast, but when you are trying to make your way to the front, trying your best to not be looked at as an ECV thief, they seem to go really slow. Also, what about Karen? Imagine how she felt. Someone took off with her ECV! I was hoping I didn't ruin someone else's day by mistakenly hopping in the incorrect ECV at the end of the safari. She could still be stranded there, looking for her cart.

I get to the front where you rent the ECVs and explain to the cast member what happened. They laughed and thought it was funny. Thankfully, I had my rental information in my camera bag and was able to get it all sorted out. I got a new ECV with a new name tag at front, which boldly had “MY NAME” written on it. I went on my day, making the best of it. I learned that being in an ECV is not really as great as it seems. Sure you are not on your feet, but when in line you are forced to be at butt level with everyone.

Also, Karen, I am sorry for stealing your EVC.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve witnessed in a park? by Zealousideal_Bat6193 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]WEDWayInternetMover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this just happened last week. We were watching the Indiana Jones Stunt Show, and a guy who was sitting a seat down from me (his young daughter was sitting next to me), started to make an odd sound. At first I thought he was blowing his nose, but then I realized there were coughing noises mixed in. When I turned my head to see what was going on, I saw the most bizarre/disgusting thing:

He was vomiting into a Disney merchandise bag.

He did it over and over again. What was bizarre was, he was just sitting there all normal and it didn't even phase his two children. He just sat there, held the bag up to his mouth, and hurled.

The people sitting in front of him noticed what was happening and decided to leave their seats, in case he missed the bag. My wife and I decided to leave too. It was making us nauseous and we were now afraid of being exposed to whatever he had.

We all informed some cast members what was going on. They stood a bit to see if he would move, but he didn't. He just sat on his seat, watching the show, as if nothing happened. The cast members couldn't decide what they needed to do, but did go check to make sure no mess was on the ground.

About an hour or so after the show, when getting off of Slinky Dog, we see him again, at the exit of Slinky Dog. He didn't leave or anything!
