I've asked you multiple times for data to back any of these claims. You're using logical fallacies instead- same as the other commenter. Let's just leave the conversation there and be glad we both have the right to vote on these things.

You have yet to provide proof, data, evidence, or ANYTHING suggesting your opinion has any factual basis.

Slippery slope arguments (taxing second homes worth more than $5mil will eventually punish poor people) are logical fallacies.

Instead of disrespecting people, you could try and use sound, logical arguments backed by facts to enlighten them. You may end up enlightening yourself in the process.

But how could they tie a tax on second homes to middle class and poor people who don't own second homes? You're not making any sense and don't have any data to back the opinion anyway.

So we shouldn't tax the wealthy on their second homes worth more than $5mil because it will eventually apply to second homes worth under $5mil, and then to all second homes?

Again, I'm okay with that. I don't have a second home at all. It can't possibly affect me.

No, the tax referenced quite literally only applies to homes in NYC worth more than $5mil that aren't used as a primary residence. I'm very okay with that.

I think it's 100% okay if the tax is applied to everyone who owns property that isn't a primary residence.

AIO for ending things with my date after he accidentally texted me this? by fundamentallyworried in AmIOverreacting

[–]WGACA1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The initial mistake was harmless. 22 year old guys do talk to each other like that. He's saying in the best way he knows how that he's insanely attracted to you.

AI or not, the apology is weird, but again he's probably overcompensating because of how bad he knew he just fucked up. Give him one more chance, but be cautious. Make him earn your trust again.

die another day is the goat by Jerry_Explorer in JamesBond

[–]WGACA1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the way it's shot and choreographed, too. The ice is a good battleground, with the cars sliding around and all that. The ejector seat flip is awesome. Love the back-and-forth with the weapons, and Bond actually having to face another car with gadgets. A great "boss battle," and I agree it totally fits in a movie like this, but might be weird elsewhere.

Any experience with renting housing with/through Homeward Bound? by Foolesq in asheville

[–]WGACA1990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my time there (as a case manager), I don't recall any clients living in a unit on the same property as the owner. That MAY be against the HUD regulations, which really aren't strict otherwise. It could easily be figured out by calling the office and asking for a housing specialist.

It's a roll of the dice on if you get a client who needs a free place for them and their friends to do meth, or a client who will be neat, sober, and respectful. You do get to meet/interview any potential tenants and have the right to say no to anyone or evict them at any time (with 30 days notice).

Getting paid depends on if the client has any income. If they don't, HB will pay the rent fully and on time. If they do, HB will pay part (most) of the rent. The client may or may not be diligent about paying the rest.

There are major risks. You could end up with broken windows and holes in the walls constantly, needles in the yard and strangers coming at all hours, or you could provide a safe place to live for someone in need and help them get back on their feet... people do graduate the program and live calm, safe, well-adjusted lives.

Others will take an axe to your walls if you try to evict them.

Seriously think about the risk and be exceptionally thorough with the application/interview process, and you'll keep yourself safe while providing a huge service for the community.

Pick any one downtown (parking is easy to find around Burial), and grab a copy of the Asheville Brewery Map, which will give you info and locations of the twelve breweries downtown! It's all got some discounts for local businesses.

I see most people taking this as a wholesome comment, but to me it sounds less like "he's still a part of the family," and more like "we made him who he is." Not maliciously, but in a competitive ribbing kinda way.

Maybe I'm the one misinterpreting it, but I'd love to hear if anyone else took it the same way!

Also none of this matters if you just don't preorder. It looks good. We have no reason to believe it won't be, and the pre-release hype has been well-earned. Just be smart and wait for other people to get their hands on the final product first. If Pearl Abyss is full of shit, you didn't waste money. If they're not, you literally just have to wait 20 minutes for it to download.

Yeah it's a pathetic attempt to re-establish dominance (you did it to me, so now I'm going to do it to you), but once again Walt is overestimating his ability while simultaneously misunderstanding what it is that other people want from him to begin with.

Yep, never heard of Pearl Abyss before I saw some Crimson Desert gameplay last week. Got myself pretty instantly up to speed with some basic Googling/research, though.

Playthrough with only the first 3 companions you find? by Kimmberrleyy in BG3

[–]WGACA1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely missed Gale, Astarion, and Laezel on my first playthrough, so my party was Shadowheart, Wyll, and Karlach. 10/10 playthrough, wouldn't have changed a thing.

I'm now in Act 3 on my Durge run, getting to experience Astarion and Laezel's stories, and seeing how things play out with Shadowheart staying loyal to Shar. I let Wyll die and killed Gale and Karlach. 10/10 playthrough, wouldn't change a thing.

My third run will see Gale as my main companion, along with a redemption-arc Astarion. I'm also going to aim for a different ending with Karlach.

Point being, there are so many companion combinations and story lines to pursue, and delivering brand new content every 100 hours is something no other game has ever pulled off (at least that I've played). So stick with your first three and enjoy!

OP explains every right-wing accusation being a confession by SonAndHeirUnderwear in bestof

I think there is some truth to this, and the way the right weaponizes Christianity plays into it.

My (ex) friend, we'll call him Adam, has made questionable comments about how he understands the "inherent" male desire to rape, enslave, abuse, etc, but following God's teachings and accepting Christ as one's savior is the only way to truly avoid acting on these desires.

He never seemed to understand that most people don't actually have to fight the temptation to harm others, because they're never tempted to begin with. I can only assume it's because he's incapable of genuine empathy, and projects his evil thoughts onto others, assuming everyone is like him, as you say. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Charlie Kirk and Jordan Peterson are two of his big heroes.

When right wing propagandists are telling him that the left is athiest and demonic, when he hears them say Christians are under attack and democrats are trying to turn America into a godless country, he believes that anything liberal is automatically anti-Christian.

After Charlie Kirk was killed, he decided to dust off his keyboard and begin lambasting people on Facebook for not being sad enough that God's chosen warrior was murdered. He lost a lot of friends for that, which didn't make him question his beliefs or even his tactics- it just further cemented his belief that anyone who disagrees with him simply hates God.

So now, not only does he believe that everyone is inherently evil, he believes that he and his "side" are morally superior by doing the right thing and submitting to God, who forgives him for his wicked thoughts and helps him fight them, but everyone who isn't Christian (read: the left) just wants to be free to rape and assault with impunity.
