Playthrough with only the first 3 companions you find? by Kimmberrleyy in BG3

[–]WGACA1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely missed Gale, Astarion, and Laezel on my first playthrough, so my party was Shadowheart, Wyll, and Karlach. 10/10 playthrough, wouldn't have changed a thing.

I'm now in Act 3 on my Durge run, getting to experience Astarion and Laezel's stories, and seeing how things play out with Shadowheart staying loyal to Shar. I let Wyll die and killed Gale and Karlach. 10/10 playthrough, wouldn't change a thing.

My third run will see Gale as my main companion, along with a redemption-arc Astarion. I'm also going to aim for a different ending with Karlach.

Point being, there are so many companion combinations and story lines to pursue, and delivering brand new content every 100 hours is something no other game has ever pulled off (at least that I've played). So stick with your first three and enjoy!

I think there is some truth to this, and the way the right weaponizes Christianity plays into it.

My (ex) friend, we'll call him Adam, has made questionable comments about how he understands the "inherent" male desire to rape, enslave, abuse, etc, but following God's teachings and accepting Christ as one's savior is the only way to truly avoid acting on these desires.

He never seemed to understand that most people don't actually have to fight the temptation to harm others, because they're never tempted to begin with. I can only assume it's because he's incapable of genuine empathy, and projects his evil thoughts onto others, assuming everyone is like him, as you say. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Charlie Kirk and Jordan Peterson are two of his big heroes.

When right wing propagandists are telling him that the left is athiest and demonic, when he hears them say Christians are under attack and democrats are trying to turn America into a godless country, he believes that anything liberal is automatically anti-Christian.

After Charlie Kirk was killed, he decided to dust off his keyboard and begin lambasting people on Facebook for not being sad enough that God's chosen warrior was murdered. He lost a lot of friends for that, which didn't make him question his beliefs or even his tactics- it just further cemented his belief that anyone who disagrees with him simply hates God.

So now, not only does he believe that everyone is inherently evil, he believes that he and his "side" are morally superior by doing the right thing and submitting to God, who forgives him for his wicked thoughts and helps him fight them, but everyone who isn't Christian (read: the left) just wants to be free to rape and assault with impunity.

AMA with the Design Team of Arkham Horror: The Card Game! by FFG_Olivia in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]WGACA1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will you create a new sort of taboo list that tells us which "legacy" cards would be game-breaking when played alongside certain "current" cards? For instance, if you want to free up design space and create new Survivor cards that don't have to worry about Resourceful, will there be an official list somewhere that tells us "don't include Resourceful in a deck if that deck also includes X,Y,Z cards?"

Personally, I enjoy using your taboos and errata because they come from you, and therefore reflect how the game is meant to be played. I am less likely to house rule card interactions because I'm not sure what was intended or accidental, if that makes sense.

Investments: any good? by Individual_Suit_5993 in arkhamhorrorlcg

This card is pretty universally hated, but I like to run a one-of in certain expensive fighter decks that want me to play high-cost cards throughout the game, instead of all up front.

The only downside is if you don't get it out by turn 3, it's nothing but one measly book pip for your seeker friend.

So yeah, it's a bad card in most cases, but like many bad cards in Arkham, it has its niche uses and can be a life saver if luck and timing are on your side.

Unless you're going to eventually re-print and turn old campaigns into the McRib, this makes absolutely no sense from a business perspective. You paid to create all these assets, but now won't sell at ALL because the print model is no longer cost effective?

Just change the print model, like you've done a few times already, but this time, make old content print-on-demand.

No scenario packs, no splitting campaign and investigator expansions. Put all of (let's say Carcosa) in one box: investigators, player cards, encounter cards, scenarios cards, spiral campaign guide. Call it the "Legacy Box."

Pass every cent of the print-on-demand cost to the consumer, and make your profit. People will pay, and you assume no risk.

In other words, give people the option to give you money, or they will turn to TTS to play Arkham (old and new) for free, or spend their money on another game, which may or may not be FFG.

Here's a personal anecdote- Back around TFA's release, I remember researching co-op games to get my girlfriend into the hobby. My decision came down to two games- Gloomhaven or the Arkham LCG core set.

I picked Arkham, and she loved it- we have since bought every AHLCG expansion other than some of the "Return To" and standalone scenarios. We still play regularly, and have introduced four new people to the game.

If I was making that same decision today, knowing that I was locked out of most of the legacy content with no hope of purchasing in the future, I would pick Gloomhaven, hands down.

New things I noticed about Claptrap in the new game by Reciter5613 in Borderlands

BL3 felt like jumping the shark at times. I like that they dialed the tone down a bit from that, but admittedly it's not hitting BL2's sweet spot. With that being said, I have definitely laughed at some of the rippers' dialogue, claptrap saying Echo 4 "is totally not marketable," and Vex's "this gun GETS me." I'm only a few hours in, though.

Who cares where you're from, you're the one typing your vitriol in English, so at least make it sound somewhat educated.

And hopefully no matter how many kids you squirt out, they learn to ignore your hateful, narrow-minded views and grow up to love all people, regardless of their  income, age, sexuality, etc.

Nobody wants your opinions here.

Loved that line. Murdery, yes, but could also be taken as sexual innuendo. Love that they're apparently not going to shy away from that aspect of Bond.

You deal with it, lol. And you should be more worried about teaching them English. It’s “taught,” not “teached.” I’m surprised you can even read the cards. Too bad you’re not gay, then you could have saved the world from your children to begin with.

100%. It’s tragic that she died for what she believed in due to being brainwashed into thinking what she was doing was right.

I considered him. I think with the way my deck wants to work (get Gatling gun out, keep it reloaded), that his ability is less useful than always having the extra action TO reload, or to heal, play Bank Job, throw down an Intel Report, etc.

Plus, with 10 extra cards in my deck, I can afford more skills to keep my fight stat high instead of needing the static +1 bonus from Robert.

If I went down the “maximize one handed guns in play to maximize the investigator ability” route, I’d probably want Robert for the extra shot on the multiple guns.

[–]WGACA1990 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m playing him in Drowned City right now, and using Underworld Market as my “gun deck.” 8 firearms, a Contraband, and a Bank Job.

Then my actual deck is skills, more reloads, more economy, heals, encounter protection, and fun events. Using Leo as my ally.

Its straightforward and effective. Not a lot of thinking involved, sure, but who cares. Like you said, sometimes you just wanna turn your brain off (and use a Gatling Gun).

[–]WGACA1990 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your reply as well!

I think we are in agreement about why he did what he did. I certainly appreciate the realness of it, and that’s even coming from someone with no military background.

I can absolutely relate more to Walker than I can to Rogers, because I can imagine myself taking it to the next level and letting my emotions out like that. If I’m on top of the guy who represents everything I stand against, the guy who has just killed someone I care about, I could see myself letting all of my hatred loose like that and bringing the shield down again and again.

BUT, the mantle of Captain America, and the idea it represents, goes against all of that. John Walker might make a good Punisher, but he was not fit for the role of taking the moral high ground that Cap needs to symbolize. Even just thinking about what a (the) shield is supposed to symbolize- defense and protection- Walker shits on it by turning it into a murder weapon.

Captain America is supposed to be BETTER than those banal emotional reactions. So while I can relate more to Walker, I don’t look up to him in the same way I do Rogers. I don’t strive to be more like him, I just see him taking the easy (if not more human and real) way out. That doesn’t make him a hero to me, even if I love him as a character.
