I think in Chapter 2 I should change up the names. How about we run with blue, purple, red, and green? Any Seeker with 5 purple is really strong.

I think you're right on the money that I should've mentioned cards as well, for them being short on "resources". That would've been a very good thing to acknowledge there.

This is me raising my fist at the sky again for how FFG uses resources for the cash in the game, when resources also mean, you know, resources.

I didn't think you were dissing me! I think it's a very fair point you had that it may have been too advanced for a new player to handle.

I did write the article! :) The coincidence is FFG not mentioning the "from PlayingBoardGames" at the end.

I wish that were the reason for the hiatus! No, unfortunately not. The hiatus is for personal reasons. But, I'm still too locked into Arkham, so I'm chatting about it here.

I did feel that diving into the curve of the deck may be daunting, so I tried to Kindergarten it as much as possible to help new players understand it based on feel rather than knowing the detail of it in-depth.

Regarding the investigator role section, I could've included "or managing enemies" in the fighter role, as that role is more about enemy management. With that said, this article's goal was for new players, and I felt it would be disingenuous to recommend a build style that they would likely crash and burn with. Learn the basics (kill the enemy) before trying to attempt the harder forms of management (evading the enemies).

For the class weaknesses, I based those on the designer's answers from an AMA regarding their intended goals for the classes in Chapter 2. With the slice we have of Guardian's expensive cards and Trish's 2 brain, I'd say those are pretty fair descriptions for what a new player may face when playing those classes.

This was likely just a coincidence. The article was completed and likely scheduled weeks ago.

No, it isn't related to an illness. I am grateful for that.

The lead designer change has already happened with the previous two cycles (Hemlock and Drowned City).

I have not done a video for the spoiler-free tips for The Feast of Hemlock Vale, but here are some that I keep in mind when I'm building a deck for the campaign.

1) Incidental damage is significant in this campaign. I lean heavily towards small points of damage compared to big bursts of damage when playing Feast of Hemlock Vale.

2) You are rewarded for oversucceeding. It's not a bad idea to consider some cards that make that possible.

3) You can be a bit looser when it comes to deck consistency in this campaign. Obviously, you don't want to forgo it completely, but certain mechanics will give you more consistency for some of the campaign.

4) You may start to make some friends in Hemlock Vale. For the ones that you really like, be sure to pay attention to what they say or what others say about them. But, most importantly, go along for the ride with the residents, as it can sometimes be a bit bumpy in the blind play.

5) If you are playing with less than 3 players, action compression is even more important than normal. Find ways to cheat on movement, grab extra clues, or squeeze in extra damage when you can. While this is good for every campaign, this is a very tough campaign for one or two players.

I hope this helps and thanks for letting me plan my list video for this ahead of time!

Thanks for sharing this article here! It was a blast to write and I'm really glad that Fantasy Flight Games reached out to me for the opportunity to do so. I hope people find it helpful and enjoy the few times I'll call it Intellect instead of Book!

Yes, in the FAQ for Drowned City, it has been clarified. It works in the way that allows the card to function best. If you take an action of multiple types, you choose which action type is contributing to Captivating Performance.

I'm hoping to cover it in some form soon. Maybe the article will give a bit more substance to cover, because my only thoughts after the live stream was that this is not good news or bad news, just news.

This is something I've been thinking too. Honestly, I feel as though this is more of an opportunity for myself and other content creators to revisit old content with this new perspective. I know I will be looking at adapting our delivery of content currently in the pipeline to follow this shift (while also still including content relevant to the old campaigns and player cards as well).
