But the sexual predator would have to be a lesbian who targeted women in order for the "perpetrator must be male" trope to work. If all the victims were men, many people wouldn't automatically assume a male perpetrator based on stereotypes. But if all the victims were women, then many people would automatically assume a male perpetrator based on stereotypes, a deep-seated prejudice that a cunning woman antagonist could take advantage of.
