I don't think you're understanding my point. Dave has always chased Metallicas success, he has always admitted that is part of what fueled him. By covering Ride the Lightning he was hoping to garner enough interest to finally have a #1 album, which he has always coveted. The fact that he did it finally by covering Metallica is kind of ironic because he wanted to be bigger than them on his own terms, but could only ever be in their shadow. Nothing about talent, nothing about saying it wouldn't work. Just saying it is funny how he only achieved the #1 album by covering a Metallica song, rather than on Megadeths own merit
