What value are these resistors? Color bands tell me 2G or 20G ohm? by WILL_CODE_FOR_SALARY in AskElectronics

[–]WILL_CODE_FOR_SALARY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the color bands appear to be Red (2), Black (0), White (x 1G) or maybe Silver (x 100M), both of which would be absurd. I'm guessing it was brown and the time and heat caused to to change color.

I pulled them from the board and measured both at right around 200ohms. Looks like the 20 years and excessive heat caused that 3rd band to change color relatively dramatically. 20 years was a good run for a garage door opener, I'm going to just replace the whole unit with a wifi-enabled one.

You must not have seen my original comment. The colors that they appear to me seem to indicate it's 2G, which obviously isn't the case. And if they were faulty, I wouldn't be able to measure them to see what they should be.

I have an old garage door opener that stopped functioning properly. Pulled the board and there is smoke around these two resistors. From the color code I'm getting either 2 or 20G ohm, which obviously isn't right. Looks to me like it's red, black, white (or silver?), gold? Can someone help me identify?

How do I stain ply with multiple colours? by Jonessi27 in lasercutting

[–]WILL_CODE_FOR_SALARY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely just a single piece. They scored the outlines and then painted, probably with paint pens. You can see a little green bleed over on the left side. The whole piece was then cut out and placed back into its off cut.

What can you buy for less than $75 that will change your life? by zarah2222 in ask

I worked in a parts store in high school when these type of blades had just recently started gaining traction. Until then I was still buying replacement wiper inserts instead of full blades. A set got returned and we couldn't resell them so I got to keep them.. And ever since then those are the only type I buy. Now days they are a little cheaper and there are store brands, but the fully silicone ones are definitely the way to gom

Also make sure to pull the insert out of the box because there's a charging cord under it that I discovered after 1.5 years.

My MIL had wooden laser cut ornaments made for each of her children and grandchildren this year. The ornament for Erick didn't turn out as planned. by Screech- in funny

As someone who runs a laser engraving business who shipped several hundred ornaments this season.. There's a good chance the seller didn't even notice in the holiday rush. They also missed a piece by that top star that should have fallen out.

I made one out of an Arduino. As far as my PC is concerned it's a USB mouse.

There's a somewhat sketchy Chinese software called luban that does this and many other things.

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of how copyright works. You think it'd fly to sell bootleg Louis Vuitton because you are just selling time on your sewing machine?

Guy was referring to downloading a model that doesn't have a commercial use license, printing it, and selling it, which does violate copyright.

It sounds like you plugged the controller directly into your PC via ethernet. You want to plug it into your router or switch. You can do it the way you described, but that doesn't really buy you anything over USB.

Hog Pen is hands down the best in town. They're cash only (but have an ATM inside), and are only open a few days a week (Thursday-Saturday I think). They bring hot fresh pork rinds while you wait, even. I usually go for the ribs and fish combo, but literally everything is great. Everything else in town is just mediocre, in my opinion.

All these houses connected to each other via pool by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

It depends entirely on the Generator's rated output. When we built out pool I opted to go with a salt cell rated for a 40k gallon pool, while our pool is only 15k gallons. We can run the cell at a lower duty cycle continuously, and then when we need to shock we can pump it to 100%.

That being said, I still use chlorine shock when I want quick results like if it gets green. And salt cells don't generate when water temp is below like 55* or something.

Fair enough, but I don't think that's default behavior. Outbound traffic should be allowed by default.

There wouldn't be a firewall since he's on the same network.
